Bang – the universe verse

Published May 20th, 2010 by Bobby Henderson

Bang!

James Dunbar created this rhyming, scientifically accurate comic book about the origin of the universe.   James believes – and I concur – that everyone should have access to a scientifically-based understanding of our creation, and no one should let religion keep them (or their children) ignorant of the true and miraculous nature of our existence.

He’s put the whole thing up for free online. Here’s a description of the comic:

A scientifically accurate, rhyming, comic book that describes the origin of the universe in captivating white on black illustrations. From the beginning of existence to the birth of stars and galaxies, you’ll learn how matter was created, why stars shine and where where we fit in this wild and crazy universe. This book is intended for all ages. If you don’t understand everything, don’t worry, no one does! That’s why it rhymes and has lots of pictures.

And here are a few example pages.  Amazing artwork:

amazing artwork This is the sort of work that deserves a wider audience. James is at that point where he’s done everything right, and he just needs the right people to see what he can do.  I would not be surprised at all to see James get a deal to make a whole series of similar books. I would love to see these in schools.

Here’s the link to the comic.

ceramics sculpture

Published May 14th, 2010 by Bobby Henderson

shiny

My name is Christiana Maione, I am 19 years old. I am writing from Jacksonville, FL. I first heard about the church from the best teacher I’ve ever had. She was my high school, sophomore Biology teacher and her name was Breanna Korsman. While we were going over Evolution, she felt it was only appropriate to tell us about another theory. My life was forever changed.

Since then and to this day, I consider myself a Pastafarian and I’m proud of it. I am now a sophomore in college and a favorite hobby of mine is ceramics. This semester I took a ceramics class and decided what better way to pay my respects then to make a sculpture in honor of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? I liked it so much I wanted to share it.. so here it is!

Regards,

Christiana Maione (I have been touched)

reminds me of warhol

Published May 12th, 2010 by Bobby Henderson

Reminds me of Warhol

I had to do a project for art, and well I choose to do the Spaghetti Monster. I had to do multiple colors and there contemporary colors. It is done in acrylic. I wasn’t going to send in a pic, but all of my friends convinced me so here it is. By the way it looks better in person.

invasion of the FSM

I like this.. reminds me of an old propaganda poster.

Serin created this for his friend who wanted a ‘monster’ themed picture.

Lab commandments

Published May 7th, 2010 by user-submitted

My head of the lab ask me for drawing a parody of the 10 commandments (with images of gods and angels) but writing the lab’s rules.

I explained her than a lab is a science and rationalism sancturay and that old myths and superstitions couldn’t be drawn in a serious one.

For this reason I did this other one, with the image of the real faith.

The text is in an obscure European language that we like to name Catalan.

Wedding Stole

Published May 5th, 2010 by user-submitted

In preparing to preside over a friends wedding, I put together a special pastoral garmet for the occasion.  I thought you might enjoy a peek, as I was able to incorporate both the Jolly Fish and the FSM.

On this, the first of May 2010, I am proud to release this piece of sacred art which I commissioned from Sarah Pierce. I welcome you to join me in silent reverence to His Savoriness, the Noodle in the Sky, our Saucy Master, The Flying Spaghetti Monster. May you be forever touched by His Noodly Appendage.

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American.
