Is that a tsunami? What a strange looking wave! I’ve never seen anything like it. Can someone explain?

    • Captain Birdseye says:

Wendy, a tsunami would be fifty feet higher and the surfers would be screaming. It seems to be a lucky shot, backlit by the Sun, taken just before the top of a regular wave crests. It’s possible the sea bed is level, the weather calm and the ‘noodles’ are fronds of kelp. More likely, though, it’s The FSM guiding surfers away from harm.

I feel threatened looking at this picture. I am afraid of what can happen to surfers in the waves.
