Gift Exchange

Published December 23rd, 2010 by Bobby Henderson

So last Friday was the annual gift exchange / secret Santa at my work. Unbeknownst to me, my CFO had selected my name from the hat. Now you should know, this man is a moderate conservative and a life-long Christian and knows full well my adherence to Pastafarianism. He had me open my gift in front of the entire company. I opened it to find the Nativity you see here… complete with baby Flying Spaghetti Monster in the manger. What makes it even better is his description of what it took to chisel the baby Jesus out of the box. He says it finally broke free and the little bugger went flying across the room.

I guess it goes to show that level-headed, even-keeled people exist in all parts of the spectrum.

Your CFO sounds like a great guy.  What an uplifiting FSMas story.  Thanks for sharing.

Why so defensive about your religion? I’m sure if your all powerful god has a problem with what we are saying (and is real) he will do something about the Church of the FSM. I mean if you’ve read the bible you will know how quickly and ruthlessly god strikes out at people. Certainly god doesn’t need you, a mere ignorant child, to work as his proxy. I understand you are concerned about a bunch of strangers on the interwebz bashing everything your parents have programmed you to believe so I’ll start with only passages in your own bible. Can you please justify Deuteronomy 7:1-2 for me?

We’ll start there and progress through the atrocities of the bible, then we’ll hit the places in factual history that took place in the name of your god of Abraham (crusades, witch trials, 9/11, etc.), then we will get the the logical fallacies, and finally if you still don’t doubt what your parents have been training you to believe since before you could speak we will examine the pure hubris of thinking that the most powerful being in the universe cares what you think or do.
    Chew on that noodle,

I’m thinking of building a pastafarian church in Cincinnati Ohio. Homeless people could get free spaghetti. Ramen.

Our church is everywhere we go. It’s in our heads, our hearts and our bellies. If you are actually seriously intending to give food to the poor, something like a mobile soup kitchen providing pasta would fit the bill.
