@42 Thumper – I thought it was “Newton’s Law of Gravity” not theory …

I think the reason that people stopped calling logical organizing frameworks “Laws” and started calling them “Theories” is pretty much a convention, not a rule. It’s just a recognition of the fact that Science will never be finished in the sense that every discovery leads inevitably to more questions. Back in Newton’s day, they figured that his “Law of Gravitation” was the final explanation for all time to the question of why things fall down, only this spoiler called Einstein came along with his “Theory of General Relativity” and refined it for a more complete set of circumstances.

Here’s a distinction that’s lost on our more reality-challenged compatriots – Einstein’s Theory doesn’t make Newton’s Law any less true; it just shows where “The Law” wasn’t the whole answer. I wonder if they think the Bible is up to that sort of challenge?

    All hail the FSM!!

@Trevor. Yes, a lot of people care what Rachel Maddow says. Not sure what you interpreted her piece to say, but she was appreciating the joys of FSM and acknowledging it’s purpose. High praise by an extraordinarily intelligent woman, on an influential and important show. (and it’s not a “talk show”)

IDK exactly who she is, but she seemed to me to have a smerking tone when she 1st started her report. Maybe not… Just looked & sounded that way to me

“The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make a Hell of Heaven and a Heaven of Hell” (Milton)
“Ya can’t argue with a sick mind”. (unknown)
“If ignorance is bliss, I guess they must be in heaven.”
Ok, so that’s not two quotes, it’s three (the last one is mine . . . does that count?). May all be blessed by the noodly appendage of the FSM. (Just in some cases, at high velocity . . . . ?)

I see…for example…we now know that the FSM might make something fall down…as well as gravity..

Oh I hear your pain. A most beautiful city, built on many layers of odd belief systems and various gods, with the pope’s pad right in the middle. Not to mention the largest collection of amazing and wonderous art in the smallest country in the world, inside another country which is known for one of the largest collections of amazing and wonderous things … etc etc etc until it all disappears up it’s own fundamental art gallery.

Rome seems to have some sort of magnetic attraction for religious weirdness and artistic beauty. I both envy and pity you at the same time!!!

Not to mention the Vatican having one of the primo collections of porn in the art world….
