  9. 329 - December 12th, 2007 at 3:39 am - Aidan Clevinger Says:

I can understand where you are coming from as someone who does not believe in intelligent design. However, I ask you one thing: As a Christian (and with friends who are members of other such faiths) I have a reason for trying to convert other people. I am trying to save their soul and show them the love of Jesus. You do not believe that God is real, I accept this. My question to you is; what reason do you, as an atheist, have for attempting to convince others of your “religion”?

  10. 330 - December 12th, 2007 at 3:41 am - Aidan Clevinger Says:

I will add to Messrs. Jeremy and Alex that calling people “little fucks” is an incredibly articulate and convincing way to express your opinions. Oh the scholars “Pastafarianism” has produced.

    ahh i nailed that baby!

    wait a second…

  12. 332 - December 13th, 2007 at 3:01 pm - Jennyanydots Says:

@ Aiden - because anything which attempts to encourage ignorance and discourage people thinking for themselves lessens the whole human race. This is why, over most of the last couple of hundred years, there has been an international move towards seeing education for everyone as one of the fundamental and best ways to create a society that works now and will hopefully improve in the future.
    .
I don’t care what somebody chooses to believe in private but when their beliefs impact on the rest of their society by causing them to tell people that there is only one true way and they’d better not question it or else, what they are creating is not salvation but stagnation. The best thing you can do for any child or adult is to teach them to think. Then, if the beliefs you feel are so important appear to be correct, they will have reached their own understanding of them, and be able to explain why they have CHOSEN to follow that system. Subscribing to a particular religious system or deciding to follow no religion should be a choice everyone makes on their own behalf once they are demonstrably competant to consider the reasons for that choice.
    .
The vast majority of religions and religious followers try to ensure the continuation of their particular variety of faith by catching people when young and indoctrinating them not to question. This is incredibly dangerous for society overall.
    .
Most atheists try not to convert to atheism but to convert to thinking, something which can end up producing the same result but that is not the initial aim. Our concern is not people’s souls in some afterlife but the actual lives of our and future generations.
    .
And just to respond to your second point, if you really want articulate comments, you tend to find them in response to the various hate-mails that come in, or the news reports provided by the prophet. I suggest once you’ve returned here to see if you got an answer to your question (from context, I’m assuming you’ll be back), you might like to browse some of the more recent threads.

For all of you wanting to hear the music - here it is:

    http://www.plasmicstudio.com/fsm_song_plasmic_studio.mp3.zip

I am the sole author of the FSM game and its music, so I’m putting it up here free for you all. You can even remix it, use it in videos, etc. - have fun. If you’re using it somewhere public, please credit Plasmic Studio, my design firm. Spread it around, as you spread the word of your holy pasta entity.

FYI - I’ve loop it four times, just so it’s not too short. Enjoy.

    @Steve Spatucci

Yay, I can finally listen to the FSM music whenever I like. Thank you mister Spatucci!

Incidentally, I’ve found myself adding Noodly Appendage-themed lyrics to it. Probably a good thing, really. Not long before it’s sung in the Pirate Ship church with all the other hymns!

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
