After having become totally disillusioned with the religion in which I was indoctrinated about 20 years ago, I have had no "faith" in which to find solace when suffering from the existential "Lebensangst" that one inevitably experiences . Then, ironically, over a pasta and pizza lunch at a very lovely Italian restaurant in Portland, I was introduced to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I was moved immediately (although it could have been the tasty linguini) by hearing about, His Holiness, the FSM. I now have SOMETHING to believe in again, and my meatballs are still quivering and my heart is full of "pastitude" for the fortuitous discovery of the FSM. I believe!!!

@Jamie. No offence but one of the main points behind this "religion" is to point out the sheer absurdity of blindly following any religion. You might want to watch a few educational movies. I would probably recommend Zeitgeist first. The first 20 minutes is enough. After that it gets a little weird of you're not into conspiracy theories. The 2nd movie has to be' "The Life of Brian". The Quest For the Holy Grail as a very good 3rd. Any George Carlin soliloquy on religion is also worth checking out.
Now I strongly suggest you watch these with an open mind; and perhaps a sense of humour. Now I'm not saying you should give up your beliefs or anything like that but I have found over the years that most people who are truly devout don't have a clue about the history of whatever religion they follow. It's almost as if they simply just don't want to know and only believe what they wnat to believe. For example, the first commandment is "Thou shalt not kill" but Christians have slaughtered hundreds of thousands for not believing. So much for following one's religion.
Another point to consider why must we fear God? One would think that if "there isn't a love more perfect than his" then we shouldn't have to fear him because he isn't vindictive. The catch here is that your God is vindictive. He kills almost like it's fun for him. I've read the bible and the carnage puts Hollywood to shame.
We followers of FSM have never killed anybody. At least as far as I know and certainly not in the name of our religion. You should read our Bible. It's really quite good. You may even find you agree with a lot of it. I'm not asking you to give up your religion but you might at least want to take a look at it By the way. I do have to commend you on your use of proper grammar and not swearing at us. That's a nice change. Thanks!
May you be touched by his noodley appendage.

@ Duncan. Check out a library. We have copies in ours up here in Toronto.

Thanks to the Sacred Text (unfortunately, my text was not an original and therefore printed on paper rather than lasagne noodles with ink rather than sauce) I was able to spread his noodly appendages amongst my year level when I did my public speaking speech with our church as my topic. I didn't win, but I feel i did what was right. Some even asked to borrow the book from me.

I will read this book and follow His Noodly Goodness throughout my life. I will spread his word, but i will not force Him unto others, for He would not want that.
Peace be unto Him

FSM clarifies many dangly, loose ends in my conscience. My ropes were all tangled up in a bundle when I looked in the barn this morning. Several roundish horse droppings were mixed among the mesh. Suddenly, the apparition began to congeal in the dim light of the barn. It seemed like a large platter of spagettee and meatballs sans the platter. Then, from the feed bin, I heard a still. small voice. It said,"Your sauce must come from within. Your good deeds and righteous thinking brings sauce into being." I was stunned. I leaned back against the sheet metal wall and slowly slid down onto some freshly wetted hay. My damp pants didn't bother me. I just looked at my ropes and what they had become. I was speechless, but not thoughtless. I thought about the sauce and how my web of ropes and pony pellets needed the sauce of completion. The warm, filling sauce of completion. I must find it. The still, small voice said I could do it. Could I trust the voice? Could I trust myself? I drifted off to sleep as the now warm, wet straw carressed my bodily form. I began to dream the dream of repeated dreams and then of flood. I awoke to a calf licking my face like it was a block of salt. The cows had come in to be milked and I must squeeze it from their teats. And all the while I kept thinking of the sauce, of good deeds and thinking. I had to do something. But what? Something had to be done. But what? I seemed to know it had to do with loose ends. The next morning, in the barn. I got my revelation.
