E. Coli resembles the FSM — coincidence?

Published October 3rd, 2012 by Bobby Henderson

e-coli

The attached photo is of a small, hand-held, plush creature meant to represent the bacterium E. Coli. I obtained this little guy at a science fair in Corvallis Oregon. I believe the creature looks a lot like Him and I think that the fact that it was obtained at a science fair is no small coincidence…

It’s Talk Like A Pirate Day

Published September 19th, 2012 by Bobby Henderson

President Obama sent out this tweet for Talk Like a Pirate Day.
Is this proof that he is really a closet Pastafarian?

Microscopic Effigy

Published September 6th, 2012 by Bobby Henderson

SmallButMighty

I stumbled upon this microscopic effigy of the FSM.  His Noodly Appendages are made of gold nanowires, 100 nm in diameter, and His Meatballs are silicon nanoparticles, ~1500 nanometers in diameter, coated with gold.

May you all be touched by His (tiny) Noodly Appendage.

RAmen,

Adam

PS – the description of the photo from the website:

Nano Spaghetti and Meatballs Colorized and overlaid scanning electron microscope images of Spaghetti and Meatballs made out of Au and Si. The ‘spaghetti’ is a collection of electrodeposited Au nanowires, 100 nm in diameter, that have released from the substrate and bundled together (Thomas Cornelius – GSI Darmstadt). The ‘meatballs’ are Si nanoparticles, ~1.5 um in diameter, with Au nanocrystals on the surface that were grown on carbon-coated substrates using ultra-high vacuum molecular beam epitaxy (Gunther Richter – MPI Stuttgart). These images highlight some of the many varied structures that can be formed at the nanoscale. (Image: Blythe G. Clark and Dan Gianola)

Bathed in the holy light of a desk lamp

Published August 16th, 2012 by Bobby Henderson

2011-11-22 FSM

My coworker, Max, made the body on a lark using the paper shredder. Weeks later, His Noodly Appendage touched my heart and helped me decide that it should become an homage to the FSM. We began construction immediately and this was the end result. Bathed in the holy light of a desk lamp.

I spotted the FSM at the Olympics

And He has the best seat in the house.

Nate, I think you might be right, but can we be sure this is the FSM, and not a Pastafarian evangelizing with athletic tape? I will watch more beach volleyball to investigate. For science.

Fellow Pastafarians,

I was pleased to discover clear representations of the FSM in artwork all over The Royal Playa del Carmen resort on the coast of Mexico.

It appears the Flying Spaghetti Monster has infiltrated local levels of government here in Okanagan Falls, Canada. This is a service vehicle used by the Regional District’s School Board!

Nice to see a school board with some sense.

God particle found

Published July 4th, 2012 by Bobby Henderson

god particle

Physicists at CERN say they’ve found the Higgs Boson.  Not surprising – illustrations of the “God Particle” closely resemble the FSM.

Below are two good articles about the discovery.  Scientists seem to keeping a lid on the FSM connection, for now. Smart.

NYTimes — A new particle could be Physicist’s holy graile
