Religious Propoganda!

Postby Rainswept » Mon Jul 08, 2013 8:45 pm

We needed a spot just for these things. I consider them a joke. Image
I believe it's time for mankind to set aside the crutch of religion and embrace morality born of reason and truth. Those crutches have long since proven treacherous when the ground gets slippery.

I collect religious pamphlets and tracts. Some of them are funny, others are charmingly stupid, others are horrifyingly hateful. If I had a working scanner I'd scan some, but unfortunately I don't.

My personal favourite was handed to me by Crazy Bag Lady (a jehovah's witness that stood outside the university sports building shouting bollocks and pushing pamphlets into the hands of anyone that didn't move fast enough).

It had on the front page "Who was the real Jesus?"

The first sentence on the inside page started "David Hasselhoff" and I didn't bother reading past that :haha:
There are times in life when people must know when not to let go. Balloons are designed to teach small children this - Sir Terry Pratchett

The great thing about Beaker is his ability to provoke while still being decorous, or at least within acceptable rules of conduct - Qwertyuiopasd

So apparently this is a thing:

"How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, 'This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant. God must be even greater than we dreamed'? Instead they say, 'No, no, no! My god is a little god, and I want him to stay that way.'" - Carl Sagan

"To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection." - Henri Poincaré

I believe it's time for mankind to set aside the crutch of religion and embrace morality born of reason and truth. Those crutches have long since proven treacherous when the ground gets slippery.
