Couldn't harm you acquiring a taste for SE Asian cooking. Veges and rice are good for you and its easy to knock up a quick tasty stirfry with no or a small portion of meat. Receipe bases as a starter are readily available here in the major supermarkets, as are spices, condiments, coconut milk etc etc. If you make a bit much, usually freezes well for when you don't feel like cooking.

Home-made peetzer with garlic, mushrooms, onions and broccoli. Noms.

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

Beer.

In a few minutes there will be pizza with jalapenos, pepperoni and onions to go with it :antipasta:

Curry, from the Shimla Palace in Kilmarnock. It's the nearest place that serves a decent curry and understands what 'hot' and 'not full of sugar' means.

And olives. Out of the bottom of a martini glass.

Tonight we had Enhanced Burritos of Doom. I've discovered the joys of online shopping for exotic hot sauces. This stuff is extremely hot, though I do have a couple of not-quite-so-entertainingly-named sauces that are significantly hotter. The flavor is incredible. Smoky-sweet with applesauce and raisins, and then the heat sneaks in afterwards and kicks you in the head.

I am an aficionado of the reduced counter at our local supermarket where they sell off short dated food cheap (because 1) it's cheap, and 2) it makes you get creative).

Got a packet of pork sausagemeat yesterday (for 46p). Made meatballs in tomato sauce with half of it yesterday (always yum) but didn't feel like pasta today, so was improvising. Ended up making burgers with said sausage meat, but mixed it up with 1/2 a fried onion, some dried chilli flakes and the zest and juice of a lime (then fried for about 5 mins each side). Holy mackerel is that a nice combination!

I ate a smoked pig eyeball today. Nothing special, which surprised me. Had the taste and texture of chewy fat.

I'm pretty sure I would not eat a smoked pig eyeball under any circumstances. :barf:
