Bollocks and eyeballs are fairly poor at dealing with many sorts of radiation. That's why so many radio and radar engineers in WWII ended up sterile and blind: your nadgers are hung out in the breeze so they don't get too hot, because if they do get too hot they find it difficult to lose all that heat again. Blast them with a few hundred watts of radio / microwave / x-rays and you'll cook them while the rest of you disperses the energy quite happily.
(I was told these horror stories back in the days when I was a radio pirate, to make me stay away from the transmitter and antenna when they were transmitting.)
