^ This. It's so hard to pick sometimes, but this year's winner is certainly ahead, although by a small margin. After the wonderful Ig Nobels a couple of months ago, it's great to finally be upon the Darwins. :haha:

Am I missing something, or is the Darwin Awards website insanely difficult to navigate?

More to the point, I've definitely heard a couple of those before.
There are times in life when people must know when not to let go. Balloons are designed to teach small children this - Sir Terry Pratchett

The great thing about Beaker is his ability to provoke while still being decorous, or at least within acceptable rules of conduct - Qwertyuiopasd

Ah, the Ig Nobels. I had all but forgotten them. I actually attended high school with Marc Abrahams, the originator of the awards (wearing the top hat at the podium in this video), though I didn't actually hang out with him or anything. I might have lost some money to him in a poker game or two along the way, but that's about it. Anyhow, I whimsically started perusing the family of websites and came across this.

I'll be putting in my application shortly. I cannot conceive of a more prestigious organization to aspire to.
"Mit der Dummheit kämpfen Götter selbst vergebens."
("Against stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain.")

Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
-- Philip K Dick

OK, now let's look at four dimensions on the blackboard.
-- Dr. Joy

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

"How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, 'This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant.
