The Metaphor

Okay, maybe this doesn't belong here, but I was researching short story types and found a link to this among the wiki articles. The first thing that came to mind was, "I should share this in the 'Did you hear who died' forum on venganza."

Interesting, so if I said:

We did it on the fly, for example...I would be using a 'dead' metaphor.
The smoke wafted gently in the breeze across the poop deck and all seemed right in the world.

He is definitely recognised as the person who truly promoted and led what is now commonly termed ‘kind modern dog training methods’ not only in the UK, but in 50 of the 52 States of the USA

Does anyone know which two states hasn't seen the light yet?

Are you forgetting the state of Ignorance and the state of Disorder?
"Mit der Dummheit kämpfen Götter selbst vergebens."
("Against stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain.")
-- Friedrich Schiller (1759–1805)
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
-- Philip K Dick

OK, now let's look at four dimensions on the blackboard.
-- Dr. Joy

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

I guess they're counting Puerto Rico and the Philippines (or wherever it is we own)? Or perhaps it's just a leak from an alternate universe where the United States either took over a bit more of North America, or fractured a bit more.

Or did they just get confused about referneces to "Northern California?" :moon:

Maybe Puerto Rico and Washington DC?
"How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, 'This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant. God must be even greater than we dreamed'? Instead they say, 'No, no, no! My god is a little god, and I want him to stay that way.'" - Carl Sagan
