The instant between raindrops does not count as the rain having stopped.

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

At the moment it's on the order of 3 minutes between rain showers. It's quite annoying to have the rain start when I leave the house, stop when I go back to get my wallet, then start again as soon as I get out the door :idiot:

Two days ago I went out in the morning to look at an old dump site. The forecast was for showers in the afternoon, so I went in the morning. It poured from the moment we left the vehicle until about three minutes after we got back in. Sunny the rest of the day. :furious:

I've had the opposite luck...the rain keeps missing me and believe me we have had about four times the average for a British Summer! It has turned rather gorgeous now though.

Being 100+ miles W of you, we've got a lot of cloud from that front they keep on about. Only cloud, though, so far.

Sunshine! Uninterrupted, glorious summer sunshine! After the last couple of months, however, I have no good reason to trust it will last, and as a result I am not really enjoying it like I should.

Also, I'm stuck indoors this afternoon, working... :bummer:

Some of us in the U.S are sick of sunshine (and the heat and humidity).....we need to switch weather patterns for a month or so.

Now I know how ill I was before the op - I just discovered when I logged in that I haven't read this thread since the middle of June!

I'm glad everyone enjoyed… errr, survived the shite summer they had. We're supposed to be well into spring here.

Canberra hasn't yet got the memo.

For the past week, while every other capital city in Australia has had minimum temperatures in double figures, we've been lucky if our minimum temperature has been as high as freezing. :bummer:

Mind you, it has been warming up nicely* once the sun comes up. Then, just as I get settled on the balcony, it's been cooling down again in the high winds and thunderstorms. :furious:

*For instance, last night's minimum was comparatively warm: 0.6ºC at 04:30. By 05:30 it was a balmy 0.8ºC. Five hours later, it's 18.8ºC and going up.

Edit: Sunrise was at 05:50.

We had the flooding, drought-breaking rains last year... so expecting it's back to drought again. Been hardly a drop in S.E. Queensland for weeks. Woke up to quite thick fog / mist not seen for a while... not unknown but it isn't regular on the coast. We had a fairly mild, dry winter with only a week or two dropping under 10*minimums. Great holiday weather if you were so lucky.
After the rains last year has made everything grow again I think we might be in for some devastating fire weather this year.

Sunday was a wash out...apart from that it hasn't been a bad September. The Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness is upon us.

We had 66mm of rain in Hereford last night. Over 2½ effing inches. Half the bloody West Midlands is flooded.
