*oils barrel of sniper rifle* So where are these Thames Water peeps?

It's been quite hot the past few days, with heavy winds at odd points.

A trifle damp here between Omagh and Cookstown, but we still managed a few barbecues. How's it been in the rest of the UK?

Half the UK flooded out on Thursday. The main rail routes to Scotland are still blocked by landslides and they're bussing people round the gap.

It barely rained in our village and we were fine. Then we switched on the radio and heard we were cut off from pretty much everywhere.

Warm and sunny mostly, but very windy. A cool breeze is ok, but the winds really have kicked up a fuss recently. It's still warm enough to sit outside, though.

It's been warm here, with occasional afternoon thundershowers. We had some significant rains a couple of weeks ago, but nothing apocalyptic.

I'm perpetually fascinated to see that every time a news story talks about an event in the Northeastern US, it's about someplace hundreds and hundreds of miles southwest of here. Hope everyone is OK down there.

Hell, NYC got nothing from that storm.
"How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, 'This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant. I heard the storm has knocked out power which means no air conditioning which could be pretty deadly for the old and feeble in the 40 degree heat.

It makes me think though when I am reading a book about the Old West...no air conditioning in those days...apart from the air conditioning Wild Bill Hickok or Captain Jack might give you.

Another 100 degree day here in Chicago. A reminder to keep your pups cool indoors with ya! We had a guy at work bring in his dog that passed from heat exhaustion while they were running. :-(

Here we have to snuggle up to our dogs (or in my case a half dead hamster) to keep warm!

Token rainfall last night against alleviate the high-90's+ temps (and surrounding wildfires).

The sun is shining... now the rain is setting off car alarms... and the sun is shining again... and it's raining again... stopped... started again...
