What's The Last Movie You Saw?

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil is awesome! Saw that recently on a recommendation, and it was hilarious.

I've been watching extended interviews and biographies of famous scientists/pantheists on YouTube, trying to get a more in-depth perspective on guys like Richard Feynman, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Nick Tesla, etc. There's a ton of stuff out there.

I also watched "Austin Powers, International Man of Mystery" the other day just to balance the tableau.

I've watched two most excellent films in the past two nights. The first was The Visitor, which was about a college professor (Ted's dad from Bill & Ted, I think) who is forced from his boring and rigid life to attend a conference in New York. Upon entering his neglected apartment, he finds two illegal immigrants living there. This was a wonderful film, where we follow him and his tenants on a journey through the immigration system in the US. I highly recommend this one. The second film was Synecdoche, New York with Philip Seymour Hoffman (I think that's his name), and is Andy Kaufmann's directorial debut. It follows Phil, who plays a theatre director, diagnosed with a strange disease, and finding his life falling apart around him. This was a really weird film, but so wonderfully done, with elements of causality and dreams entering reality. This comes highly recommended.

It's a rare treat to see two such wonderful films in as many days.

I saw Conan the Barbarian from 2011 last night. It sucked, avoid at all cost.

What annoyed me most is that they changed the background story of Conan. We already know how he came to be what it is. Instead they should have made a movie out of one of his random adventures like in Conan the Destroyer, then I would have hated it less.

This afternoon I saw Your Highness, it was actually more competently done than the new Conan movie. The script was just a little weird. And I got to see Nathalie Portman's butt, that was a very good thing.

So I went to Mirror, Mirror yesterday.

ZOMG! A gold-worshipping megalomaniac flagrantly grinding down the impoverished masses! Must be a commie-socialist-democrat plot!

An entertaining remake, with novel re-imagining of some plot points and tour de force costuming. I also rather liked the surprise Bollywood number over the end credits. I am considering Salmon Fishing in the Yemen for next weekend.

I haven't seen it and probably won't, but I recognize one of the dwarves from the trailers. His name is Ronald and he used to be on a reality show called "Pit Boss", about a pit bull rescue/dwarf talent agency operation. I used to watch it, but I don't watch it anymore. I stopped after the original cast quit and moved on to other things (acting in Ronald's case).

I watched The Station Agent again tonight. I love this film, and have done from the first time I saw it. Peter Dinklage, who played Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones, is excellent in the lead role, as are the rest of the main cast. If you haven't watched this, I recommend you do so, as it is one of those must-see films. The only thing that is interfering with me thinking of this film is the image of Natalie Portman's arse, of which Wolfenstein lovingly reminded me.

I don't nose wot be deery , the Conan adaptations by Thomas , Smith , and Bescema pretty much got it bang on (imho) .
Why don't they simply give it to Sam Raimi or maybe Mid Night Samamalama ... Uh...forgot his name .... and arsk them to capture the same atmosphere as the comics ?
Just imagine Red Nails in the proper hands .

^ "Cronan the Armenian"? I saw that on SBS late night a while back - not so sure of the plot as it had Armenian subtitles.
