EVERYTHING Comic Books!

Postby Pirate Johnson on Tue Sep 27, 2011 7:09 pm

:welcome: This thread was created for ANYONE to post almost ANYTHING about comic Books. I'm a big fan of DC Comics and a HUGE fan of all the Green Lantern, and relative, comics. I encourage posters to post about the latest story arcs, the last issues they've read or bought, their favorite characters, super powers, or heros/villians, ect... The publisher's argh no issue (no Matter how much I dislike Marvel). I'm even allowing posters to put links to their personal sales if they have any that relate to comic books, but I expect this rule to stay intact for ALL sales links. Links to your favorite comic books home-page argh cool by me, as well. So basicly to comemorate the launch of DC's The New 52, I'm creating this thread for anyone and everything comic book related. Web comics are prety much covered by AFTERGLOW (joe e), so check his awsome post out if you haven't already. :fsm_rock:

As a first post I just want to admit that the GL movie sucked pretty hard and was VERY off key to the comic book. I was ashamed of it, in fact. If anyone took the movie as any kind of summery to the masterpiece that is the comic book, please do NOT let this discourage you from reading the books. Geoff Johns is a far superior writer than the movie had.

I agree mostly. But like any book (comic) to movie adaption, it isn't all that bad as a stand alone. I haven't read a good comic book in a long while. May be time to pay a visit to e-bay.

Seamed to me that they also made the movie look like it had alot more about the corps than it actually was.

I have a friend who's really into Neil Gaiman's Sandman series. I've not checked it out, but I feel I must do at some point. It does sound intriguing, and anything by Neil Gaiman, I have found up to the present day, to be very good. It will be interesting to read him in a different medium.

My local library had a book that focussed on the actual cultural impact that WATCHMEN had. IGN also had Rurshak (I probably spelled the character's name wrong) in its list of top 20 comic heros. I've got a motion comic of it downloaded, but still haven't watched ALL of it, nor have I read the actual graphic novel, YET.

 Probably, but it doesn't matter to me if you could transfer it there. As long as it's not a major pain in the butt to do so.

I seriously wanna recomend looking up RLSH. I've joined the forrum and am awaiting a confirmation email. RLSH is NOT a corny gimmik. I watched a video of DC's Guardian on his profile, and was amazed. Life, Z, & Zimmer were some of the most admirable members. Their forum is on TheRLSH. net

I got a Black Lantern Hal Jordan on Black Friday!!!!! Go with the same series as my Blue Lantern Flash I got 2 weeks B4 that. I'll have all the pieces to build the Anti-Monitor eventually. I hope 2 have the entire series by my birthday next year, hopefully with the white lantern Hal Jordan from the series, too. The whole series was @ the Wal-Mart where I work a few weeks back, but I didn't have the $100 to spare @ the time.

4 months since my Last Post :
(^does this count?!?)

Well, DC ANNUALS have hit the shelf!!! (marvel may have a few that hit the trash, IDK. just not interested in NON-cannon retconing.) #0Zero issues for the new 52! stories argh still releasing every Wednesday this month as well!!! I FINALLY signed up for a pull list with my local comic Book/gaming shop. Honestly, who wants to wake up THAT early, every Wednesday. I recomend this for all the titles that the publisher doesn't offer subscriptions for. Another benefit is that Diamond Suppliers (more than likely, it's them) will usually send the stores entire order in a single package. Meaning: the mail "carrier" damage doesn't get the damage chance to "carry/handle" your damage investment. Hal Jordan Green Lantern Wave 20 All Stars was just added to my collection last night & Wave 17's White Lantern Hal Jordan will soon be making its journey from MidTown Comics to sit next to its Black Lantern counterpart. MidTown clearences argh awsome, BTW!!!
