I like to name things. Mostly I name my various dolls, or my characters in video games. Lately I've been playing Pokemon a lot, so I've been coming up with a lot of names. I like to be creative and cryptic with my names, and I'm wondering if anyone else does the same. It doesn't have to be something sentient or even based on such. It could be a plant, or a car, or a house, or whatever.
So, this game is two-fold: You post a name that you've given to someone or something. From here, you can either A) Ask us to guess where the name came from or why you named it/them thusly, giving hints if you wish, or B) explain the name yourself if you think it's really impossible to guess. I shall give examples of both now.
A) Guess the explanation
Me: I named my favorite mug "Forrest" (not really, but for the sake of example). Why?
Nef Yoo: iz et becuz yoo eet shwimp fwom et? rrrrrrrrr
Me: No. Here's a hint: it has to do with the decor of the mug.
Calico Jack: The mug has trees on it! Good for pooping on Nef Yoo from above! ACK!
Me: Correct!
B) Explanation given
I named my plush duck that I received as a child "Afkyafk" (pronounced AFK-ee-AFK). He originally belonged to my sister. Somehow he became mine and I don't know how, I was too young to remember. Eventually she lorded this fact over my head to make me cry. Anyway, I named him Afkyafk because I wanted to give him an original name that was hard for anyone but myself to pronounce, and boy did I succeed. Even my fiancée can't get it right, pronouncing it AFK-yafk.

So that's basically how it works. Only sort of a game, I know, but it might still be fun while it lasts.
I gave you an given explanation example, so now I'll give you a couple real guessing ones:
I have a bumblebee crocheted for me by my fiancée, Ashley. I named her Debbie Brunelleschi. Why?
Also, I have a Grimer in Pokemon Sapphire, who may eventually evolve into Muk. I named him Moneysonny. Why?
