Bobby was interviewed by Antonio Martinez over at La Informacion (thanks once again to Pharyngula for mentioning it).

I'm glad we got the exposure but I was a little disappointed in the lack of content. The only thing that struck me as noteworthy was this:

I’m not sure I want Pastafarianism to grow larger than it is now. At some point an organization grows so large that it becomes impossible to manage it without paid employees. Once money is in the picture, a lot of credibility is lost. Right now, no one can say FSM is about money. No one pays anything to be part of the community. We’re at that point now, where we need better management and organization, and that’s very hard to do without resources.

Is he referring to us? Or just anyone who considers themselves members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? What does he want to manage and organize?

This interview just raised more questions than it answered, for me.

I was wondering the same thing. The website is the only thing that comes to mind when it comes to management and money, but I figure our population shouldn't really effect that too much. I figured we're pretty self-sufficient. I run my own congregation with zero help from Bobby or the Church and we get along pretty well.

With all the pictures posted over on the main page, I'd never seen a photo of our Prophet (pbuH). I always figured he was too camera-shy. But now with a link from Pharyngula, tons more people will see it from there than will see it here.

My Hubby's on Facebook, but his Mafia Wars game winds up with him having so many "friends" that I don't even try to keep track. (I'm not on Facespace (Myface?), not that some people haven't tried to drag me there.)

I know he's cyber-friends with Jon Stewart, and a former congresswoman. And a bunch of you guys, of course. He says Bobby's on his list too.

About a year ago I hit google images, to see if Bobby showed up in any of the pictures. He didn't, so I figured that was intentional on his part.

Why are they called 'friends' rather than 'acquaintances'?

I have a total of 32 'Friends' (actually, using En:Pirate as the default language, they are 'mateys'!)

People I 'know' from here: 8
People I know from here (and have met in real life): 0
People I 'know' from Spectrumites: 9
People I know from Spectrumites (and have met in real life): 3
People to whom I'm related: 9
People to whom I'm related (and have met in real life): 9
Total people I've met in real life: 16

Not everyone I know is on Facebook - I do have real-life friends!

Hmm. Is that those 16 you mention there? My friends-to-people-met ratio is way less than 1.0.

Just in case anyone else is confued, and not just winding me up, I have 32 'friends' on Facebook, of whom 16 are people I've actually met in real life, most of whom I'm related to.

Most of my real-life friends are NOT on Facebook. I have met hundreds, if not thousands, of people long enough to have a single conversation with them, but do not regard any of them as 'friends'. Acquaintances are people I have had several conversations with and would have another the next time we meet. Friends are people I see regularly, whose presence I cherish and with whom I have a mutual trust and liking. My point being, why does Facebook not allow members to distinguish between 'family', 'friends' and 'acquaintances'? They seem to have a toddler's definition of 'friend'; i.e. 'someone whose name I know'. [/grumpy old rant]

Yeah, if he doesn't want the Church to expand, why is he bothering to do interviews?

I don't think he minds if the church expands, he just doesn't seem sure of what is expected of him.

He shouldn't be worried about it though. Yeah, with some leadership, we could probably accomplish some things, but I get the feeling Pastafarians will tend to do things their own way, in any case.

I like the setup with a place for non-members to post comments critisism.

It really helped me that I could say what I thought as a person (Oi ain't a pirate in real loife you know).

I think the rules/age limit/spelling/dictionary could use a bit more discussion before labelling anyone who's different/foreign/extraterestrial like me, me mum Ham and me pa ET weird and banned.

It was just a few 4 letter combinations from me randomness in me brain. I don't see the difference between admitting I'm a stupid f***up or s***head or saying yes in a couple of minutes I will see some internet porn and jerk of. Why do I have to hide me three letter selves uck and hit in the first part and not 'ere.

Oi gess oi just stupid or too amn young to nerdstand ye old folk.

Sorry if oi offends ye again it's just me explanation with me truth.

It's because we're a publicly viewed forum, and anyone who looks at this forum can read (most) everything posted here. They might know absolutely nothing about this place or the FSM, but we might be able to win them over. If we don't adhere to certain (arguably arbitrary) standards of decency, we might turn a lot of people away, and discredit ourselves.

It's similar to why you shouldn't swear (too much) in a debate or argument, because it simply discredits your position. Obviously you're just upset about something and flailing about like a 4 year old.

I personally have very few problems with using all of a language (only two words I take issue with in English), but that's for personal affairs, which this forum is not, precisely.

I can't tell from that photo if Bobby really is ten feet tall. Did you realise that BH, Bobby's initials, also stand for Believe Him. This cannot be coincidental.
