Draw a One-Panel Cartoon (great writing exercise)

If you like a creative-writing challenge, or just can't draw, but have a great cartoon idea, describe it here, in as few sentences as possible...

Here are three I thought of...(over the last couple years)


An alley in London, 1966.
A "mod" teen is backed up against the wall, wide-eyed and frightened.
At his feet a can of spray paint....On the wall next to him, the scrawled
legend, in two-feet-tall letters "Clapton is GOD"...
An alien faces the youth, ray-gun pointed at his chest.
Nearby sits a stereotypical early-'60s "flying saucer", round, bubble-
domed, and tri-legged, hatch open, ramp extended.

CAPTION: "I DEMAND AN AUDIENCE WITH YOUR KLAP-TON"


A dusty lot behind a rural building. (GOD's-eye-perspective)
A sign by the 2-lane-blacktop in the background reads: "Dog-Boarding"
The chain-link fence around the lot has been breached, a two-foot-tall arch
cut in the wire, on the ground nearby, a pair of diagonal-cutting pliers .
A half-eaten canine(head, shoulders, front-legs and spine-stump remain)-lays
in the dirt, surrounded by a melee' of tiny human footprints... A crying woman,
her 'tween boy-and-girl, and a worried kennel-owner stand nearby, in a semicircle.
A crinkle-eyed, buff blonde guy in an Aussie bush hat-and clothing squats on the
far side of the carcass, squinting upward at the others.

CAPTION:(in thick aussie accent, of course) "Babies ate your dingo."


Two suburban ranch-style houses, as viewed from the street.
A hedgerow seperates the driveways.
In the driveway to the left, a small, muppet-like bear sits on an
aluminum-and-nylon-webbing lawn chair, surrounded by food wrappers and
empty beer cans. He holds the end of a rope.
The rope snakes under the hedge, ending in a nooselike snare on the
center of the driveway on the right....In the center of the "snare", a copy
of "Vogue", a plate holding a steaming lobster tail, and a visa gold card.
In the wide picture-window of the house on the right, a pretty, trim, 19ish y.o. girl,
with a perky pony tail, peeks from behind the curtain with shining, panic-stricken eyes,
at the "bait" in the driveway

PS...If any of you art-type-people on forum(and I know we have a few)-wish to draw any of my ideas.(not saying anyone should want to, but,)...

You are welcome to, but if you then use it anywhere(esp. somewhere which gives you money) pls. split credit(and esp. money) with me.


(not that I am making the claim that the ideas are good enough to be worth money as cartoons....I mean, I like them, but my humor is rather, shall we say, different. ....)

I had an idea for one once, and years later saw it in a Far Side.

It was a small store, but in order to get to anything you had to perform some Indiana Jones style trap avoidance. Caption read Inconvenience Store.

Apparently it was a common idea:

This is another brilliant thread but it will have to be a slow burner...it takes a good deal of creative thinking to come up with the ideas...or inspiration.

I had an idea for a cartoon strip based on the wonderful Jesus and Mo...Zankou and Elijah.

Here's one I drew awhile back but it will not mean anything unless you know 'Bill Oddie' a UK TV personality:

An urban streetcorner.
A fire truck is slewed haphazardly in the intersection.
A group of befuddled firemen stand impotently around
a fiercely burning fire hydrant. (Nothing else is ablaze)
One is holding the drooping end of a fire hose.

a bowling ball sits in the driveway glaring at them with his eyes reflected in the mirror

made by farside but I don't know if the picture is online (I have a calender of them)

A man in a rumpled business suit, tie loosened, stands next to his dining room table. At his feet, a briefcase and umbrella.
In the background, you can see the living room, and also front yard, as the front door is ajar.

The floors of both rooms are covered with filth, dust, debris, clothing, food wrappers, and aluminum cans.
Two parallel tracks snake a path across the carpets, and out the front door, through the yard, and terminate in tiny "peel-out" marks at the street.

The man is reading from a sheet of notebook paper, with a bemused expression.
