"Little Britain" jumps the pond!

Postby PantyGnawer on Tue Oct 07, 2008 12:56 am

I mean what the hell have you brits ever sent us that was worth a shit?

The Beatles (perhaps), the Stones(perhaps), that JRR Tolkien guy (meh).

Okay I'll give you credit for Eric Clapton and The Office, but you didn't so much give us the office so much as we just stole it from you. Come to think of it we pretty much stole Eric Clapton from you as well (blind blues singers are a big draw).

But now you all have exported one of your greatest assets! Little Britain! I have loved this show for all three seasons when it was in Britain! No one knows about it here. I only know because of downloading torrents. That show rocks!

Now they have created "Little Britain-USA". They have transplanted all the characters from the old show in the UK to the US. They didn't "Americanize" it but rather just transplanted the humor. Now they make fun of Americans as well as Brits. Strangely enough the move to HBO seems to have given them more freedom to be as dirty as they want to be.

This is the funniest thing on American television right now! Thank you Britain!

Clips of old and new shows are all over youtube.

So the American version is actually any good? I love Little Britain.

I thought it was going to be like the American version of our Kath and Kim, dubbed '22 minutes of disappointment' by a Courier Mail critic.

So yeah, I went and got a blog.

It is.

They have actually gotten alot of American actors into the show.

The first episode featured the reocuring "Fat Fighters" skit but set in the US with Rosie Odonnel as the guest. Lots of fat and lesbian jokes but it was the funniest thing to come from LB since the first season.

Hmm. I seem to remember Britain having colonised America in the first place.

We love Kath & Kim in our house..."Look at moi, Look at moi!"

Little Britain is almost an institution here, I haven't seen the USA version yet. Now they can actually have Kelsey Grammer at Kelsey Grammar:

Holy crap! I just watched the 3rd episode and realized that I have known or have met two people from the episode.

I worked with a guy named Quentin at a restaurant for a couple of summers and haven't seen him for years. I knew he was an actor, but didn't really think he'd gone anywhere with it. Then tonight I think I see him in an episode of little britain. I forwarded it to the credits and sure enough it was him!

They must be filming these episodes in Wilmington NC.

Matt Walsh was also in the episode. He's been in tons of movies and such. I met him on my FSM Missionary mission in L.A. . He approves of the FSM!

Little Britain USA was absolutely dire. A steaming pile of shit. Please tell me you lot didn't laugh at that.

Believe me the original series here in Gb got boring after 2 episodes. It's just the same joke repeated over and over and over. It's a con.

People are easily pleased.
