I am astonished upon sailing into these boards and not detecting the presence of every pirates way of proving oneself - The Insult Swordfighting. You scalliwags should be firing insults and clever comments at each other like a pirate ship that has just encountered a rich governor at sea.
In Monkey Island, Insult Swordfighting consists of a series of Call and Response exchanges, in which an insult must be countered with a witty retort. Should the responder counter with an appropriate retort, they win the right to call the next insult; fail to respond, and the caller gains an advantage. Win enough of these exchanges, and the duel is won.
The basic rules, as put forth by Him
:1)Yarr.. when one pirate insults thee, your reply should be clever enough to silence his tongue. (MI1)
2)The most noble of pirates, sworn prophets of Him
finishes the retort with a rhyme, further degrading their opponent. (MI3)3)When ye win a battle, seize your adversary's booty. Head over to Kenny Falmouth's cannon outlet to get the Level 7 Destructomatic T-47 with Autoloader and Fax Modem
4)The victorious pirate may present a new insult, or pass it on to his matey.
5)If no pirate claims victory within 24 hours, thus falling prey to the insult, a new pirate may step up to the line and present their insult.
