I can't read with music playing, either. Since I've been a musician since I was small, music just commands too much of my attention. I'm listening to the details, to what each instrument is doing. If I know the words I'm mentally singing along. It's too hard to let it fade into the background of my awareness for me to read. Now a TV on in the background is different, I can read through that no problem.

I don't really listen to music while reading.
But I do associate certain memories with songs, almost to the point where I will be on verge of tears.

I remember at one point, around Christmas time, I always had my stereo tuned to Z100, and any song that they played, Miley Cyrus's See You Again, Boys Like Girls, and Chris Brown's Kiss Kiss will make me almost cry.
When I listen to music, I listen I can't really do anything else.

But I watch wrestling while doing my homework and it helps... sometimes/
I have a one-track mind.
