I'm most excited by Dark Knight, but I'm also anxious to see if they can pull off the Watchmen

Yes! Watchmen ! So far it remains as the greatest graphic novel ever (IMHO) . Hmmph , that blurb didn't mention my old flame , uberHottie Carla Gugino .

I don't have much faith in it. Unless they do a trilogy, or something, there's way too much content for just one movie. What I'm most curious about is how they're going to do the "comic within a comic" from the source. That, combined with the fact that Zak Snyder strikes me as a "style over substance" director and the fact that all the character's, even The Comedian, look about 10-20 years too young, makes me think that this is going to be another "crap from a classic" movie, like so many movies based on Moore's brilliant work.

Oh noes. Please, give me the damage... I knew they were going to make a movie, and I was cautiously optimistic that they might find someone competent to direct that didn't just make it into yet another boring comic book movie... but it sounds like it is not to be.

Yeah. It will be better, methinks. They can fit more content in, and the seventh has the most content.

Oh noes. Please, give me the damage... I knew they were going to make a movie, and I was cautiously optimistic that they might find someone competent to direct that didn't just make it into yet another boring comic book movie... but it sounds like it is not to be.

Take what I say with a grain of salt; I hated Zak Snyder's other movies, but most of that was personal. I saw Dawn of the Dead as blasphemy, and I hated the source material for 300. From the previews, I could pick out some classic scenes, such as the Nite-Owl's ship above the rioting crowds, and the birth of Doc Manhattan. They seem to have gotten Rorschach and Doc Manhattan right on, at least appearance-wise.

My biggest complaint is that Ozymandias, who should be pushing fifty, looks twenty-five. Of all the characters, only Silk Spectre looks even close to the correct age.

Anyway, we may not even be seeing Watchmen, what with the lawsuit, so meh.

Is Moore suing again? The guy is a genius, but he's also a cranky old bastard, imho. I thought 300 was pretty bad myself. The only thing I really enjoyed about it was watching the young jock/thug crownd get into something that was so overtly homoerotic. I got lots o laughs from that. The thing about the Watchmen is, there is so much incredible content in that novel... I fear a movie will merely concentrate on style, losing what makes that book so damn good in the first place.
