This. This right here. All those other crappy sitcoms that were mentioned PALE in comparison. They don't even deserve to be uttered in the same thread.

Malcom in the middle? Please.
Arrested development? Over-rated, I watched all of it after hearing it was good. Should never have been aired imo.
M*A*S*H? Meh. was decent, a bit old-school, of course they'd have to be in Iraq now.
Frasier? decent I suppose.
Boy Meets World? This is a good show if you hate yourself.
Everybody loves Raymond? Winner of the boring competition.
Cosby show? Cosby is OK, but it was like he was the only one even trying to be funny.
King of Queens? Why? Just why?
Friends? Don't get me started. This show just plain tried too hard. Some of it was funny, don't get me wrong. It got to the top of the sitcoms at the time rightfully, but a lot if it had to do with the other ones sucking even worse.

Seinfeld, on the other hand, was perfect. Every episode, funny things happened. It wasn't like every other sitcom, with a bunch of soap bull. I watched Boy meets world. 95% of every episode qualified as a soap opera. The other 5%, someone made a bad joke. The others aren't quite as bad, but still have it. Friends had none. Good for it. Too most of the jokes weren't even remotely funny. Suffered from a bad case of trying too hard. But Seinfeld. Every moment, a joke, or a setup to a joke, or a funny situation, but it was always natural. It felt free, easy, light, if you can imagine a show being light. It never felt forced, like many sitcoms. I don't know just how it did it, I wish I did, maybe I could attempt to create something even a fourth, no, a sixteenth as good if I knew that secret. There's a reason Seinfeld is a legend. Because it's better. It's on top. Seinfeld is the Shakespeare of sitcoms. The bar that everything is measured against. The greatest.

Also: Fresh prince. Fuckin fresh prince was good.

Seinfeld was obviously one of the funniest shows ever. They had a really talented writing staff etc etc.

Beyond that, you have some really weird views on shows. You seriously think Fresh Prince is anywhere near as funny as Malcolm in the Middle, or was that just sarcasm? I even like Will Smith as an actor, but not that show.

I really don't understand how someone can appreciate Seinfeld and then like Fresh Prince over shows like Frasier, Mash, and Malcolm. It makes no sense.

It's probably that I watched it as a kid, and when I veiw old episodes now I get all nostalgia-y. That's pretty much the whole reason that I like it. Not because it's inherently good (I can't say), but because I have good memories involving it.

There seems to be two kinds of people. Those that absolutely loved Arrested Development, and those who absolutely hated it.

I'll admit that its a strange brand of comedy but I always found it funny as hell.

I feel like so many people grew up with spoonfed comedy and a laugh track to tell them where the punchline is, that its hard to transition into more deadpan styles of comedy.

Of course the popularity of The Office would seem to violate this assumption.
