Hearken, my children, unto the words of the Oracle:

While the FSM advocates neither pain nor suffering in order to better worship Him, He has decided that occasional sessions ulitizing the applications of damp semolina may be an appropriate form of praise.

Therefore, go ye, and beat one another with wet noodles, that ye may better appreciate the wonder that is FSM!

(dry noodles are right out, being somewhat ouchie.)

Oh i think Auntee may be in the wrong on this one. Capellini, High Priestess of MOFSM does constantly propose whippings with wet noodles. And naked sauce dances among other things.

Oo sorry Auntee i misread you post originally, I thought you were saying that there were no sects that condone it. Whoops. As a Pastafarian myself i don't believe in the overly ritualistic style of the MOFSM sect and agree with you that its definately not compuslary.
