It is indeed part of the UK but the title of this thread seems to suggest that "England" is the same thing as "Britain".
It always annoys me when people do that.
But I'll get over it.

Try explaining to the Irish that they live in the British Isles and therefore Britain. Annoyed isn't even in it. If you try and show them an atlas you'll end up walking funny.
Did you know Great Britain is the eighth biggest island in the world as long as you don't count Australia. And nobody does. Hence "Great", as in big.
