Ok, the America's Army site: Lots of soldiers play on it. Personally, I love the sniper training since I was denied sniper school due to my poor eyesight....and it is realistic.

Some of your more violent games (GTA Vice CIty and San Andreas) are fun, but too realistic for me. I couldnt play them with my kids around...especially after I got pulled over once for speeding and my five year old leans forwards and whispers very loudly (Grab his night stick daddy and hit him with it so we can get away)//// QUit playing that one after that.

Now, I play online Diablo II. IT is fun, fantasy based, and I mostly just cruise around trying to pick up set armor pieces and bestowing my extra stuff on newbies.

No one gets hurt (except little demon guys and suggestivly perky breasted demoniesses with wings) and it is cartoony violence.

I have seen real violence, and have had extensive training in the art of violence. Video games dont cut it. Trust me.

Ah, I love DII. I've been on a playing spurt lately. I mostly play single player though. I don't have a broadband connection, and the few times I tried online, it didn't work too well. I quite often got killed because my reactions were SO slow.

My computer is currently with my wife at the Cameron Dorms. I have DII on my laptop, but strictly single player. I prefer Paladins because I just like some of the stuff he says in that "sexy black guy" baritone....

I also do a mean impersonation of the Carver Clan critters...

yay for DII! I used to play it alot, but since I've run out of people to play with, it's lost its appeal, as I've beaten it already. if you guys get your internets back, we should totally do more. I'm always either Druid, Amazon, or Necromancer.

I have played every class in DII, and just about every way you can design a character. I have 6 characters that have finished Hell, and killed the Cow King for the third time. My favorite are sorceresses, but I can play any.

The Ancients in Hell...in single player...are a royal b****.

never was too succesful with sorcs. always ran outta Mana about 75% through act one. I like druids 'cos they're really round about. they've got magic, melee, summoning, auras... and half of their magic isn't affected by 'resistance to magic', because wind is pysical.

Yeah, I probabily have about a years' worth of time into that game ... literally a year, 24hrs a day, 7 days a week ... sleep? Who needs it? <heh>

I have not yet got my new PC up and running, and the one I'm on currently lacks sufficient horsepower ... but soon. Real soon.

Interestingly enough (to me!) I never did like online D2 - too many immature jerks out to "get" you, and totally not interested in cooperation.

So, all that time spent was for single-player. Like Poincare's, I've finished the game (Hell, Act 5) with every class of character at least once. Several times with my favorite character-classes (Amazon, Sorceress).

The dungeon-randomizer engine and mixing up the skill-sets is what keeps it re-playable. Especially, when you try weird things: like a "Be all the Bear you can Be" Druid. ONLY wearbear spells and NOTHING else. Interesting.

Or a Barbarian who is as MASTER of a weapon-type. And little else. The rule for this one (according to ME) is you must be level 20 in your weapon-mastry before any other skills are selected ...

Adds a new dimension, when you deliberately limit your character.

And, I recall that Poincare once mentioned a Sorceress who was a mele-character ... used a sword, as I recall ...

I used to run out of mana on my sorceresses, too. Then, I realized that "we don't need no stinkin' dex or str or life". Well, maybe a little bit of Str, so I can eventually wear chain ... <heh>

And, having a belt full of blues, helps, too...

Sorc IS my favorite class ...

I've played it so much, I even played a "be all the fireball you can be" character, that, at least until Hell level, mostly used Fireball. 20 levels of it...

And then there was the Hydra-specialist ... and the Chain-lightning Expert ... and the Cold Ice Storm Guru.

Yeah, I've tried many weird options, in order to "try something new".

My favorite is the Necromancer and his summoning spells. He eventually has more characters on screen that are on your side than trying to kill you! The blood and fire golems just rock hardcore, and raising an army of skeletons and skeleton mages is just too fun not to do.

I am something of a purist. I like to play with Paladins and see how far I can tweak them.

I love the Necro's Confusion curse. You don't need bunches of raised skeletons. The monsters fight each other. Just let your golem and hireling finish them off.

My favorite meleers are Barbarians. Not that I don't enjoy playing other classes. But some of those Warcries are awesome.

Right now, I am playing a Druid-werewolf. Just about to finish Nightmare. I am in the caves just before you reach the Ancients. Just found Aldur's Jagged Star. Cool weapon. And it had 3 sockets. Ohboyohboyohboy.

Personally, I think the assassins fun. Setting traps, then sitting back and watching things burn, or running in dual wielding claws, blocking, doing high damage etc., and of course, the martial arts finishers.
