I have a friend who describes herself as a post-atheist, meaning she's been an atheist long enough that she no longer feels the desire to debate morons.

Anti-evolutionists come in many flavors. Before even engaging one you need to get them to establish where they are coming from, in order to know how to base your arguments.

If you are just defending evolution, then your defenses will be the same regardless of the flavor. But if you are going on the offensive then you have to know the flavor.

But I wasn't on the offensive. We were arguing the role of Intelligent Design and the 'failures' of evolution.

hah. i work with two southern baptists and once upon a time the topic of evolution came up. i said something about it and they glared me.
i said, "what?"
they said "oh, you're one of those people..."
"those people?"
"yeah, the ones who believe in evolution"

i just shrugged.

besides there really is no polite way of saying there is no god. how do you politely and discreetly say to someone that they have devoted their whole life on a lie?

I wonder how many people have been "converted" to atheism, not including personal experiences, insights, and logic unless preceding another's argument.
