Not sure about the spaniels. He started the blaze when he tried to fit a Greek Fire projector to the royal pirate ship. The ensuing inferno did millions of pounds worth of improvements.

I think I read that somewhere, him and Sammuel Pepys stealing dairy in their pirate ships on the Irish Sea.

After the fire they rebuilt London with the help of a guy called Hooke. Coincidence?

Exactly.

It is my belief that the Protestant vs. Catholic excuse for Britain's troubled 17th century was a cover up (probably created by by Dan Brown) to hide how England was run by pirates.
