Depends on how hardcore Catholic they are.

Frankly, you won't get very far with telling them you're a Pastafarian. Best case scenario, they let you be a Pastafarian, figuring that Pastafarianism is a joke religion. Worst case? They throw you out of the house.

Wow.
I honestly feel sorry for the whole family. It can't be easy for a religious mother to watch her son become an Atheist, much less the Athiest out himself to his mother.

That reaction was ridiculous, though. Thinking that more chuch will somehow "cure" him of the "sickness" of atheism. And then using Christmas presents as leverage in his religious values (or lack thereof).

Hell I feel the most sorry for the dad. He just sat there and didn't say a word. He had to be thinking "damn I married a total bitch!"
The kid can get the hell out of there in a few years, but pops is fricking stuck with her.
I think we should chip in and buy the kid a christmas present.
