Mythbusters Pirate Special

FYI, An episode of the Mythbusters focused on Pirate myths.
Discovery Channel 9pm EST Wed 17th & other times.
Two hours long, looks good.

Arggghhh me hearties… Jamie and Adam have plundered the seven seas in search of pirate parables and maritime myths and the result is this 2-hour spectacular. And with four stories of hi-jinks on the high seas the action is thick and fast.

I definitely want to see the whole eye patch myth the commericals are showing. I tried to bowl on Saturday with my eye patch on and I didn't do too well.

You wouldn't, binocular vision is important for distance perception.
This is why predators have it.

I have not, specifically, put it to the bowling test. But, had one on for a time in college. It was proved on a daily basis.
Is proven a word? I keep wanting to use it for some reason... but I think it is just in my head.

So, who watched the Pirate Special? I wish I could have, but alas... Anyway, what are the results?

About depth perception, I have a test:
1.Close one eye.
2.Take the cap off a pen.
3.Hold the cap in one hand and the pen in the other.
4.Hold the cap and pen at arm's length in front of you.
5. Try to cap the pen.
You will keep missing and marking up your hand because your depth perception will be ruined. Ha ha! I got you to mark up your hand!

and I hope they show this special in the UK sometime... our discovery channel got taken away by the mean NTL people and dad's refusung to get a better TV deal 'cause he doesn't want to pay for it when we havt to get digital anyways. He's silly.

Oooh! I saw that! Just don't ask how I saw it so soon with hardly anyone in finland having even heard of it. *finger in front of mouth, winking* "It's classified information!" ... ... ... ... ... Oh man... I just seriously creeped myself out thinking of that. O_<

As one might expect, my favourite part was the cannon experiment, though the eyepatch darkvision thing was very interesting as well. So was the sail thing and... Ah it all was enjoyable at worst. I have one complaint though: "Needs more pegleg and hook.", but I guess there just aren't too many pegleg or hook myths to try and bust. Still, they could've had some more peglegs for the heck of it.

Bout' to get my cutlass, after I get my gladius. Having a hard time deciding what gladius design to get. (turning the walls of my study into a small armory, just stuff I like and not all high-end, unfortunately)
Once I get my cutlass I'm going to get my tricorn and then really get to work on my costume.
Time was I had it all, just never thought of putting it together.
Different pieces of costumes that were given to me from old roles I had done. (I was a professional actor).
Not going to have the same effect from the chair now. :(
My son's second birthday was a pirate party, we had a blast and I had a cool costume... had to give my patch away to a girl who thought I was a real pirate. Worked on the dialect for a couple of days, was funny.
When I finally broke character (I was exhausted) and told her I was my son's dad and just an actor, she reached up, pulled the patch down, back in front of my eye and continued to ask me pirate questions... basically, don't mess with the fantasy dude.
Funniest line of the day is "____'s dad is a pirate!?", was asked several times. When I told them I was just playing pirate, they just gave me a "yeah-right" look... it was hilarious.
Had I known this years ago, my acting career would have been very different. It was a blast!
