Eye Patch

Postby Jerm » Thu Aug 17, 2006 11:42 pm

I've got me a bit of a question.

See's, I realized I been a sinning; praying without an eye patch.

See'n how I'm something of a cheap bastard and all, I was wondering if anyone has made an eye patch, and if so, how?

Skills Disclaimer: If it requires it, my sewing skills are about equal to my pyrokinesis: non existent.
It all kind of went downhill from there.

I made one out of black jeans one time.

Cut out a eyepatch shape.

Put a hole in either side

Tie a bit o' string or elastic to it by the holes

Robert's your uncle Fanny's your aunt, you have an eyepatch.

make sure if you do wear eyepatches, that you switch which eye they're covering each day, or if you only wear it on one day for a special occasion, switch it halfway through the day. (calculate it, not just at noon). you do NOT want to strain an eye.

plus, switching your eyepatch every hour without telling anyone or letting them see can generate some interesting reactions...

You might want to cheat a little & get something black but see through. Trying to eat with a fork, light a rolled up herbal substance (regardless of the legal status), etc., with only one eye working can be a bit of a chore if you're not used to it.

Or does this go against the pirate code of conduct?

I don't think the pirate code had much to say on eye-patch eating ettiquite...

if you've mastered eating it with an eyepatch, why not try with TWO eyepatches? and no stacking.

The smoke wafted gently in the breeze across the poop deck and all seemed right in the world.

Outside your lenses? How well does that work? Would that do anything to the lenses a'tall?

I use gmail, and that often has google advertisments, which are advertisements suited to whatever text is on the page.

so, when reading the email on this, I got a link to the eye patch club

Ye still have peripheral vision in that eye. Being made out 'o fairly soft denim and cord, it didn't scratch it or anything.

Thanks for the advice, I shal take it all unto consideration (I really doubt thats a proper way to use unto, ahwell).

My plans of doing this while sticking to my charatistic cheap bastardly ways are beginning to unravel. Perhaps I can't be a total cheap bastard, but I can be a moderately cheap bastard.

And I love the idea of Blind Beard the pirate. That strikes me as a good room clearing tool.

"Arright, we'se a shove ye into a room. Ye hears the door close, ye starts swingin' an' don't stop till I says!"
