Equal

Blackbeard and Ben Franklin deserve equal billing for founding democracy in the United States and New World, a new University of Florida study finds.

Ben Franklyn's house is just round the corner from where I work here in London. Perhaps Blackbeard used to call in for tea and scons - and they would have a useful discussion on the merits of democracy. It's an endearing image.

I actually liberated that self-same tray while I were there, discussing the proper use of gunboats in international diplomacy.

Wasn't invited back.

Crimea

Now you come to mention it, I was on very good terms with Florence Nightingale...until I suggested the distribution of Fish Head Stew to boost the troops health during the Crimean War!!!!

Venison

Postby black bart on Fri Jun 30, 2006 12:09 pm

YYYAAARRR... I even met Queen Vicky herself once...I was caught shootin her Royal deer and they strung me up in a gibbet just outside Balmoral. As she an Albert went passed I shouted out 'God Bless the Queen', hopin she'd give me a Royal pardon - no such luck ...'Who's that impudent curr?' said Her Majesty...'and why is hangin the right way up?'

To this day I can't stand Tartan or Venison...
