English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

Spermaceti is a waxy liquid found in the head of a sperm whale. It is used in cosmetic production, and used to be used as lamp oil. The standard 'candle power' candle was made from spermaceti wax. Read Moby Dick by Herman Melville for a fuller explanation (and also because it's a fantastic book).

Spermaceti is a waxy liquid found in the head of a sperm whale...

OK, but that doesnt explain why they called it "Spermaceti" from Greek sperma (σπέρμα) = seed, and cetus (Κῆτος or Kētos) = huge fish, sea monster or whale...
Wikipedia says "The whale was named after the milky-white waxy substance, spermaceti, found in its head and originally mistaken for sperm"!!!!!!!! How stupid were these sailors?? they thought the Whale had sperm in its fricking HEAD ??!! Maybe that's also where the expression "giving head" comes from??
PS Who the heck is Moby C. Escher???
do you mean Maurits Cornelis Escher, the guy who did all them wierd pictures??
That's my non-nautical association by the way: Maurits Cornelis Escher
