It's cool in central North America. This morning it was about 10°F (-12C) so I had to put up the hood about halfway on my cloth jacket when coming home from work in my shorts and t-shirt, so the wind wouldn't whip against my ears too much. My furnace broke yesterday, and it's about 50°F (10C) in my house, so I have to have my t-shirt tucked in to my shorts instead of hanging loose in order to be comfortable. There's a repairman theoretically on the way, so it should be a balmy 64F/17C in here again pretty soon.

Sometimes I just love my arctic genes, eh?! If my landlord didn't demand I keep it warmer to stop the water pipes from freezing and bursting, I'd probably have it like this all the time. Mwuhahahahaha!

(Goes off to answer the door.)

Ironically, the furnace repair guy just showed up now, so I'll be back to the usual modern tropical convenience in a few hours. I'm almost saddened by the efficiency. I kinda miss the days of waking up in the basement of an 1870 farmhouse and seeing my breath, or sleeping out in a snow den or just throwing a tarp down on the ground while doing the winter hunting/gathering. It really made one feel alive :)

Happy new year, folks!

You, sir, should seek professional help.

Here in the Ocean o'Sand it's t-shirt weather, again or still or something. Since last year we were up to our headdresses in blizzard drifts I am not complaining, although I am bemused by my t-shirt wearing neighbors having a loud hardy-har-har at the stoopid scientists that "believe in Global Warming".

I'm a strong supporter of Global Warming - the warmer the better. :idiot:

It's cold again here, but at least this time I was smart enough to wear my heavy sweater jacket.

Rain. Cold. Dark. Wind. Streets blocked off due to dangerous buildings and falling masonry. High tide will bring more property damage, apparently. I can hardly wait...

The weather here in extreme northeastern US has been generally unseasonably warm. No snow to speak of, and only a couple of non-consecutive really cold (single-digit) nights, last night being the second of them. It's supposed to be back up well above freezing again this weekend. Virtually no skiing available, and ice fishing is not happening very much either. Even lakes up in the mountains are reporting open water.

But I'm sure it's nothing to do with any of that global warming nonsense. That's just silly. :idiot:

English isn't much of a language for swearing. When I studied Ancient Greek I was delighted to discover a single word - Rhaphanidosthai - which translates roughly as "Be thou thrust up the fundament with a radish for adultery."

when you say single digit, do you mean the Celcius, Farenheit or the Kelvin scales?

Sorries for not specificifying. Fahrenheit is the local idiom here.

Still blowing like Satan's rear end here, and raining. Looks like I'm not going out collecting logs today.

The sun is shining and the skies are blue. The buildings are falling down, many of the roadsigns are gone, and the railway has been washed away by a flood. But the weather is lovely.

We had crap weather throughout the Monkey Hols. The only glimmer of sun was when we were Hereford with David. As we were making our way North toward Manchester through the wind and rain we got a message from the mother-in-law saying "weather terrible here"! I couldn't believe it when we reached Manchester it was actually 'much' worse'...the windscreen wipers nearly flew off!
The smoke wafted gently in the breeze across the poop deck and all seemed right in the world.

Come and live in sunny Herefordshire. Well, occasionally sunny. Well, blowing a gale and piddling down at the moment.
