Better way to find others?

Can anyone think of a better way of finding people in the area than making a new thread for you town or state? What I think we need is some sort of map that you can place were you are on it(being as specific as you want).

My boyfriend and I are working on this issue currently. He is a genius programmer and I'm sure he can work something out. I'll post it as soon as it's finished.
