I have found the best pizza in Pittsburgh...
Mineo's pizza house.
(Or, as I refer to it in my head, Pizza Haus.)
It is always jammed with people, crowding up to the small counter to order, pick up, and one of the two sons of the founder of the "Haus", (in 1958), is always supervising the making of the pies.
When an order comes up, he shouts, rather curtly, "Large Pepperoni for Wilson!"...
Sometimes in the noise of the place, 'Wilson' may not hear his name called.
Sometimes, 'Wilson' does hear, but can't fight his way through the throng at the counter.
Either way, if the poor shmuck hasn't appeared to lay hand on his pie in 8 seconds or less, the angry chef screams,
"LARGE PEPPERONI FOR WILSON!!!!."
Everyone gets quiet, as poor wilson crawls quickly to the counter, fearfully hiding his face, then bows and scrapes his way out of the restaurant with his precious pie.
(Everyone else is thinking, "poor bastard", and for the next 2-3 minutes, the place is subdued, everyone standing stiffly and quietly, trying not to incur the wrathful attention of the mineo.
Slowly, the noise and pace resume normality, but with everyone having placed one of their ears carefully near the front counter, so as not to be next.
I go there at least once a week...it is the pizza equivalent of crack.
