Anyhow, I felt like the ending was a total cop-out. To prevent spoiling it, I'll leave it at that, because I know a few Harry Potter fans, and apparently spoiling a Harry Potter anything is a crime punishable by crucifixion and castration. Y'all are nutcases.

Since I have a childhood friend that regularly posts pics of herself on Facebook playing quidditch, attending meetings where they pretend to be Snape with mops on their heads and has "Hogwarts" marked as a school she went to - I must sort of agree with you on that one.

^ Jon Stewart had the actor who portrayed Harry on the Daily Show. It was an OK interview, but I was amazed at Jon's footage of people 'playing quidditch' (sort of like polo without the ponies, and clutching a broomstick between their knees while running about). It was equally amusing and horrifying.

Next on my list, probably Larry Crowne.

I saw that interview. My friend and her group of Harry Potter fans seemed to leave out the broomsticks and just run around aimlessly.

What I found most fun about that footage was how they had solved the quicken problem. It was just a kid that ran around the field being chased by the others.

Summer Wars

Okay, anything else aside, this movie is worth seeing just for the lush, complex visuals in the OZ world. It's like someone decided to animate Takashi Murakami's imagination. The story as well, is great. Despite having none of the typical symbols and trappings of it, it was a highly patriotic film. Harmonized Japan's past and present, to show a possible great future.
"How is it that hardly any major religion has looked at science and concluded, 'This is better than we thought! The Universe is much bigger than our prophets said, grander, more subtle, more elegant. God must be even greater than we dreamed'? Instead they say, 'No, no, no! My god is a little god, and I want him to stay that way.'" - Carl Sagan

"To doubt everything or to believe everything are two equally convenient solutions; both dispense with the necessity of reflection." - Henri Poincaré

That girl just got married. They had jesters at their wedding and they got married in medieval dresses. I saw pictures her mother put up on Facebook and apparently she started giggling when standing at the altar because the priest said something Harry Potter-ish.

It was all a strange mix of things. First of all, she's a Christian so there was serious Bible stuff. Second of all, they had this medieval theme that turned into Indian at the reception. Thirdly, she married a woman. Which isn't that strange, but still. It made for a special event - wish I'd been there.

I, for one, thinks it's terrific when the folks at the Scottish Canoe Association get hitched.

True. Even if they fall out after the wedding, they'll still be friends...

I saw "Beautiful Lies" at the weekend. Audrey Tatou was wonderful, as always.

Fantastic film, I cannot recommend it highly enough! :bounce:

A small part of the fun was noting the differences between the spoken French and the English subtitles (and the misspellings in the latter - what is that about? )

I finally saw the Star Trek movie...ie the new one with the new cast...excellent.

I recommend 'Cats and Dogs' for Milo.

Finally went to see Harry Potter.

Very good, better than Deathly Hallows I in my opinion. Alan Rickman is a genius. In a cast of that strength, he managed to turn in a performance that stood out a mile. Also, Helena Bonham-Carter pretending to be Hermione pretending to be Bellatrix Lestrange was flawless: it didn't look like acting, it looked like magic.

I have real problems with my suspension of disbelief crashing when I am watching a movie, but I was nowhere near it, I was hooked the whole way through. Unfortunately, the franchise is now over and done with. Sad panda.
