My name is [not] pieces o'nine and I am proud to have *never* read anything by Edward Bulwer-Lytton, despite picking up a "Complete Works" ages ago because of hilarious family motto spacing on the embossed covers.

I got through 11th without ever touching Hamlet. I'm at a loss for why, because apparently everyone is supposed to but it didn't come up at all in any of my classes.

I'm sure most teachers figure you'll be exposed to Shakespeare eventually, even if you don't realize it; you might be surprised at how many movies are based on Shakespeare's plays.

If you get a chance, you should definitely check out Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo diCaprio and Claire Danes. I thought it was very well done (and you don't find many films nowadays with teenage lovers that end up committing suicide).
