I'm fine with symbolism, but I don't like it when said symbolism is the point of something. A good movie should be a good movie whether or not it has "deeper meaning" This is why I'm not a big fan of modern art, something that doen't look pretty or interesting enough to be noteworthy unless there's some "deeper meaning" behind it should not be worth millions of dollars. Abstract art is fine if it's playing with shapes and colors and textures and stuff (My grandfather did alot of that, some of it's hanging in our house) but if it's trying to mean something, I think I'll pass.

murder by death
Ubi Dubium wrote:I love Murder By Death! It spoofs every detective movie they could think of, and has a dream cast. I love Alec Guiness as the blind butler and Nancy Walker as the deaf-mute illiterate cook, who could neither communicate, nor really understand that they were not communicating. And Peter Sellers! And Maggie Smith! And Truman Capote! And And And... I first saw it in middle school, and I'm planning to show it to my kids once they have enough background in other detective movies to get the jokes.
(Val +1)
I didnt get the difference between our world and the dream world thing... I didnt really know WHAT the hell was going on in that movie... but there were some nice shocks in it... and I love that sexy actress... errr Radar Michel ???Valanthe wrote: Silent Hill was interesting in how they showed the difference between our world and the dream world that the town had fallen into. Shows why intolerance is a really bad thing, too. Not a great film, but possibly worth rescuing from a budget bin.
