Translation of The Loose Canon 1st ed.

Postby strozzascotte on Sun Sep 22, 2013 3:38 pm

Hi, I'm coordinating a translation effort of TLC 1st ed. in Italian.

I have some question for you, enlightened Masters of The Olive Garden:

1. is there any copyright restriction or notice that I should consider?
2. can you send me an high quality version of the cover art for the translated version?
3. when (if) we finish the translation, would you publish it in your website alongside the English one?

Thank you for your answers and may the Holy Sauce always wet your Noodles.

I, as a member of the Council of Olive Garden, also, ( now that the Rev. Jo Freddie has come aboard.) shall answer your questions to the best of my ability. ( and sorry if I come off weird, to you.)
(also, if you want me to, I shall put my answers through Google translate since I do not know Italian either. ( it'll be fun to actually read it once it's completed.) At least my answer could be in broken Italian.)

#1: No, I do not think so. Since it will be free.
#2: I shall help out, and look for it. There must be a higher resolution picture out there.
#3:Yes, the more languages, the merrier.

Good luck to you and your friends on Facebook. I have already joined your group. Just to let you know with your page I shall be a :lurk: (lurker) to see the progress that has happened. Also, my Italian is nonexistent. That is why I asked you about Google Translate.

May the pasta be with you.
(and may the Almighty Flying Spaghetti Monster give you strength in your quest to translate the Loose Canon version 1.)

I helped finish the design of the cover. I've got the original files and can adapt them if given the proper translation of the text on the cover.

Could you do it in Norwegian?
because here is the title of the Loose Canon in Norwegian

Den Løse Kanon, en svært viktig samling ord.

Someone on the facebook page asked "practically" the same thing, but instead of Italian, he would like to do it in Norwegian. I hope you are willing to do this, also, Rev.

Thank you

Well, I would like the permission of the Council, first... just to be on the safe side. But I'd be happy to do it.

Also, I'd like to know what file type they'd prefer. I think the original was done in Adobe Illustrator, so I can make just about any standard file type.

Thank you very much for your support.
Two members of the Council joined our translation group.
I've also received an "official endorsement" from the FB page of the canon.

About the cover, we are still debating on what the best translation would be...

Everybody in the translation group is excited and we are working fast.
