What Is Your Italian Name?

Postby Blackspot_Isaiah on Sun May 28, 2006 2:24 am

Being a worshipper of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I figured I should probably have an Italian name but my family tree has roots elsewhere so no such luck. Fortunately, I found a nifty Italian name generator on the internet and I can now proudly introduce myself to you as Saviero Esposito. Cool, huh? What's your Italian name?

Is this some devious plot to gain all our real names, possibly by backward engineering?

Sorry, my paranoia is showing again. Pass the medication!!!

My Italian Name Is...

Carlo Conti

But my first name isn't Charles. ?????

I don't believe there's much rhyme or reason to it. Possibly it wants your real name just to stay away from versions of it?

It is fun though, I think :?

I gave it The Meromorph and it said

It's completely random. I did it a few times...

Phew. At least I didn't get "Belinda" the first time.

I have not used the name generator. My real name, like my screen name, is Daniel. I happen to know the Italian version is the same. But pronounced with an Italian accent. My Spanish name is Daniel also, again, pronounced with a Spanish accent.

Just because Spaghetti is often associated with Italy seems like a poor reason to take Italian names. Pirates were more often Spanish than Italian, so I'll go with my Spanish name. Besides, I don't speak Italian.

Esta De Luca

Esta? What kind of a name is Esta? I want to be a Maddelina. With a Lucia in there somewhere. And I'd pick a good Sicilian surame, like the one my mother had.

Wasn't that the rat in the Muppets? Does that answer your question?

Apparently Beagle -> Ottavio Gallo
Does that mean I get to inherit a vineyard?

Alex said it's completely random. So try it again. Or better yet, pick the name you like. Don't be a slave to some silly joke page on the internet!

But I can't really use my mother's maiden name, because it's a popular security question. :-D

A quick google of the name says it is Dustin Hoffmans character in Midnight Cowboy :? very good film but I am not sure I wish to be associated with it that closely! I will have to go and get another name.
Best regards
