New Pirate Name Generator

Postby NeferKa » Thu Mar 16, 2006 11:16 pm

I'm going to start a Noodley Pirate Name Generator and I would appreciate suggestions. I think I'll have it be along the lines of Title Name Name the Something. (Ex. Captain Stinky Pete the Saucy.) If you have any suggestions at all, please share them so I can include them on the generator.

If your're looking for somethign web-based and don't feel like writing your own, you can always look at the source code of the FNORDerizer, which I stole from some other place, and modified a little.

I found a generator on Rum and Monkey, which just requires the person to pick a category, such and male or female, and then type in her/his name in one text field. I can put in different categories, such as title, first name, and last name, which will be assigned by the program.

I can put as many sections (names) as I want, and the generator will match them up according to whatever the person typed in for a real name.

I could include our ranks in this too, but it would require a bit more work on my behalf. I could make it so instead of just selecting male or female, the person will have to pick a gender and rank. (For example, I’d pick female buccaneer and then put my name into generate.) This would then mean that everyone would get a new name as her/his rank changes. Does that sound okay?

I will post my request in the Pirates and Games section as soon as I know what I’m doing. Thank you for the suggestion, Auntie Dee Dee! I just want to figure out what I will be asking for beforehand.

Should I go with “FSM Rank, Adjective, First Name, Last Name, the Adjectiveâ€￾? I think with the longer name, this will decrease the chances of repeats.

The way I'm setting it up is that you'll have to scroll through the list and pick male or female, and then the rank. (Example: Female 1st Mate, Male Buccaneer, or Male Cabin Boy.)

Should I make a special category for the Moderators?

That one is awesome! :fsm_rock: If I ever have a daughter (which I won't), that's going to be her name.
Interesting... This cadaver appears to be breathing and pleading for medical attention...
