While I was learning about this wonderful religion of yours, and while I was reading about how the number of pirates affected the climate, there was a flash of light. There standing in my room, was our Spaghetti God himself. He told me something that would allow us another chance to rectify the global warming issue. First, He told me that marriages were actually just between two or more people, regardless of sexual preference. Marriage actually does not have to be between a man and a woman. He told me that every time we allow such marriages to be legalized in a new country, the rate of temperature increase decreases. The more countries legalize it and the more marriages of the same sex that we have, temperature increase will slow down to the point where there will be a reversal.

I’m a Catholic.
But before you get ready for hate-mail, wait a minute.
Because really I think you’re brilliant. Not that me thinking you’re brilliant is that high a compliment.
Teaching ID in schools as science is completely ridiculous. No religion should be taught in schools.

Facts are important.

I just want you to know that not all catholics are … um… crazy.
But something to consider, they do believe that their religion is true so in their eyes they are merely spreading the truth, not hurting anyone.

May you be touched by his noodly appendages,
or god bless you but that’s probably a bit hypocritcal at this point,

You rule. I still don’t understand how people can think this idea is stupid, or obviously wrong. There is exactly the same amount of scientific evidence for FSM as there is for any other god, probably more in some cases. The intelligence to make these connections requires higher brainpower than most of the people in the “hate-mail” section of your website have. I am now converted from a proud atheist to a proud pastafarian. Thank you for showing me the true light and may you be touched by his noodly appendage.

Leslie Scrivener has written an excellent article, In praise of an alternate creation theory, in the Toronto Star.

From the department of one scientific theory is as good as another, comes the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

The theory goes like this: the Earth and all living things were created by a Supreme Being, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and though there are no witnesses to creation, there are written accounts of it.

In time, men and women heard of the spaghetti monster and came to worship him. And as the word spread, a gospel was written and churches were established in his name.

And artists, inspired by his word, drew his image â€“ a tangled mass of pasta, with two generous meatballs, and googly eyes protruding from stalks.

Since the Flying Spaghetti Monster was revealed in 2005, millions have seen his image or read about him and his teachings, on the Internet site www.venganza.org and also in a book published last year, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

I made a spaghetti monster tree topper and took a picture with it for our “Happy Birthday Frank Sinatra Party”….you can see Frank’s ornament in the picture. I have also begun small spaghetti ornaments. I will let you know if those are ever finished.

Happy Holidays!

A Holiday message from me:

It’s that time of year again. Many will be celebrating Christmas, some Hanukkah, some Kwanzaa, whatever. Pastafarians will be celebrating our holiday, named “Holiday“. And it’s not a specific date so much as it is the Holiday season, itself.

I hate to go into specifics as to what and how Pastafarians celebrate/worship. The rituals and ceremonies are not important. What is important is that Pastafarians reject dogma and formalism (the emphasis on form over content). So, there are no specific, handed-down-from-above sort of specific rituals or ceremonies. Pastafarianism is more of a state of mind than a set of rules to follow. So enjoy the Holiday season, and celebrate it in a way that is pleasing to you and those around you.

That said, I would like to point out how much Pastafarianism has spread in a remarkably short amount of time. A few years ago, you’d be wished a “Merry Christmas” by everyone. Now, by our schools, businesses, goverment, on tv – everywhere – what do you hear? We’re not offered the Christian greeting “Merry Christmas“, but instead a happy “Holiday” season. Holiday, is of course OUR Pastafarian holiday, and it’s amazing to see how it’s been accepted, embraced even, by so many people.

Consider this: the Washington Post reports that a few people are upset with the White House “Christmas” cards, because they fail to mention Christmas. Instead, and not surprisingly based on President Bush’s presumed closet-Pastafarianism, the 1.4 million recipients of the White House “Christmas” card are wished a happy “Holiday season”. Say what you will about our president, but to send a Pastafarian propaganda message to over a Million people, in defiance of the Christian Evangelists who are supposedly his base – that took a huge set. I was so Touched that I took the time to write Mr. Bush a note. Click to read it, if you want.

So, that’s all. Have a safe and happy Holiday season. Remember that Flying Spaghetti Monster merchandise is not only fashionable, but also serves as propaganda.

Richard Dawkins

World-famous science author Professor Richard Dawkins, during an interview about his new book The God Delusion, mentions the Flying Spaghetti Monster. (Around 1:50).

It seems that he’s saying the existence of the Christian God is as likely as the existence of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and that you can’t disprove either. Perhaps he’s not aware of the evidence we’ve gathered in support of the existence of the FSM, and all the academic endorsements, etc. Or, maybe he’s tentative about revealing his true faith, Pastafarianism.

*update* – I Just found an interesting comment:

Regarding your suspicion of Dawkinsâ€™ closet Pastafarianism. I quote from The God Delusion, p53:

“I am delighted to see that The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster has now been published as a book, to great acclaim. I havenâ€™t read it myself, but who needs to read a gospel when you just *know* itâ€™s true?”

Iâ€™d say thatâ€™s evidence for Dawkinsâ€™ Pastafarianism at least as strong as the Global Temperature/Pirates correlation, wouldnâ€™t you?
