Chinatown Sighting

Published November 17th, 2010 by Bobby Henderson

chinatown

I found this at a store in San Francisco’s Chinatown in August.
As best as I can discern, the red colouring is due to the amount of spice used in Szechuan cooking, and his noodly appendages are not attached to his body since in Chino-Pastafarianism, they represent the "four dragons" that form the rivers of China.

Westboro Tires Slashed

Published November 15th, 2010 by Bobby Henderson

Religious hate group Westboro Baptist Church had their tires slashed while protesting at the funeral of a soldier in Tulsa.

To make matters worse, as their minivan slowly hobbled away on two flat tires, with a McAlester police car following behind, the protesters were unable to find anyone in town who would repair their vehicle, according to police. –Tulsa World

Halloween Evangelism

Published October 29th, 2010 by Bobby Henderson

Halloween is a prime Pastafarian evangelism opportunity, the one night of the year that pirates and wenches can walk around in traditional regalia free from persecution.

Here’s a collection of Halloween Missionaries, and below that a collection of Propaganda Pumpkins. These are from the last few years.  Please send me your photos from this year’s festivities and I’ll add them here.

Columbus Museum Evangelism

How would you draw God?

The attached images were captured at the Columbus Museum of Art. Whether this drawing was left by a devout Pastafarian or placed by His Noodly Appendage, I do not know.

Hairy spherical block copolymer particles

Published October 21st, 2010 by Bobby Henderson

From this article on NPR it appears material scientists have stumbled upon the fundamental Truth of nature at the molecular level.

But perhaps not yet undertand what they’re seeing.

There’s one part of the molecule that doesn’t like the other part,” Bates says. So the one part of the molecule folds up into a sphere, forcing the other part to the outside, where it makes little tendrils. It resembles a hairy sphere.

I think what this work does is that it makes contact with something that is more universal than just plastics. It has the capacity to teach us how nature works,” he says.

And understanding how nature works is something all scientists strive for.

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American.
