above the workspace

Watching everything

As a deeply religious fellow Pastafarian, I feel as a divine duty to report the following wonderful miracle to you.

Today, exactly at 9:45AM, our Lord, the One and Almighty Flying Spaghetti Monster, appeared and floated above my workdesk for several seconds. After He touched me with His Noodly Appendage, he disappeared, but fortunately not fast enough for leaving no evidence after Him. I managed to grab my camera and take this beautiful photo just before he faded away into the heavenly skies!
Please let me share this miraculous sight with the rest of the world, for the sake of spreading the divvy idea of our Great Saviour!

Yours sincerely,
Arnold

P.S.: by the way, the FSM doll was made (planked) from wool by my girlfriend and it’s hanging on a fishing string – probably scaring out the shit from anyone who’s not aware of it’s existence before entering the room :)

Origami FSM

Published September 2nd, 2009 by Bobby Henderson

I want one

Meterdown features this folded-paper FSM on their list of 20 Awesome Sci-Fi Origami creations. Aside from the fact that the FSM is for-real, not fiction, I love this. There are no instructions, unfortunately. I’m still going to try and make one.

Black velvet art

Published August 16th, 2009 by Bobby Henderson

I am a black velvet artist and I recently painted the Flying Spaghetti Monster. I’m pretty sure that another loyal Pastafarian has done this in the past, so I stylized the great FSM to mimic the old Game and Watch LCD game, OCTOPUS.

It is set in the Pastafarian heaven, with a stripper factory and pirate ship (sadly, I had no room for the beer volcano).

Like any good velvet painting, it glows in blacklight. ;) I hope ya like it!

Sock Summit wood carving

The kate is done and ready for the Sock Summit fiber festival in Portland, Oregon next Thurs-Sun.

Everyone who’s seen it loves it! I drew my own artwork and if I make another, there are changes I’d make, but on the whole I think it came out well. Feel free to post, and if anyone asks, my company’s booth will be #216 at Sock Summit (Portland Convention Center).

Oh, and for those folks who don’t know, a Lazy Kate is a tool hand-spinners (spindles and/or spinning wheels) use to ply yarn. You spin singles on several bobbins (one is shown below) and then when you ply, you use the elastic cord to tension the bobbins so they all move at the same rate, and you move the spinning wheel in the opposite direction and keep the yarn twisting uniformly. If you look at store-bought yarn you can see it consists of several strands, and a kate helps you get the twists even as you ply.

stained glass

My mom is pretty much the coolest mom ever and made this for my college apartment in Lubbock, Texas, which is straight up Bible belt. His Noodliness watches over us while we eat our dinners consisting mostly of ramen (being poor college students).

A little late for Easter but I just found this picture on the internet and had to post it. These eggs were made by Pastafarian Jamie.

fsm creation

My mother (who remains a Spaghetti Monster skeptic) gave up some ground on the religion issue and created a unique FSM crafty creation as a gift.

Seen here, he is judging our newly sponge painted wall. What other belief system offers a deity who is willing to provide constructive criticism for interior decorating projects?

My humble family were touched by his noodly appendage three years ago. We wanted to raise our children with a religions so that they would have a basis for a moral code in their futures. We considered Orthodox Greek (you know – Zeus, Hermes, Dionysus, and the whole gang) but we found the Pastafarian way of life to be a better fit. We just don’t have the funds or the grasslands necessary to offer the Gods of Mount Olympia the required burnt offerings of cattle.
