The Western Nostril is a cartoon published in South Africa by brothers Patrick & Alex Latimer. This is a cartoon I commissioned in 2008 for friends of mine in Cape Town that are total fans.

Awesome. The newspaper makes mention of the FSM being spotted downtown, if you read closely, and the headwear of the fellow on the left makes it all the more certain it is a divinely inspired comic.

Yeah, I love the colander helmet, too. Kinda like the tin-foil under the hats of people trying to keep alien waves from entering their minds, except it’s got holes in it. It’s permeable! Perhaps some divine pasta can be allowed to noodle its way in? Or would that be a brain drain?

As a consummate purveyor of good taste, I find the the head gear particularly appetizing. The Brittish dental work on the right is also enthralling, while the masterful use of nostril action creates the perfect degree of tension. His Noodliness has never looked better!

Is this like a holy communion with the FSM? Instead of drinking wine he could drink some marinara sauce?

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
