Chile

Published July 29th, 2009 by Bobby Henderson

I had just embarked on my 7 month trip of South /Central America and Europe and was wondering whether I had made the right choice. Then He appeared to me in the clouds above the Altiplano Lakes near San Pedro de Atacama in Chile, to tell me it was all going to be ok!

I also thought you might like to see my new car licence plates, which I purchased for my new car when I returned from my trip! Sorry the photography is so bad – the sun was shining the wrong way!

greece

Published July 26th, 2009 by Bobby Henderson

My fiancee and I recently traveled to Santorini, Greece and were delighted to see this lovely item in one of the local artisan shops in the town of Fira. The husband of the shop keeper is a carpenter and made everything in the store by himself, including this box. I’m glad to see that his noodley appendage has reached deep into the heart of the Aegean.

kiva update 7/25 – recruitment attempt

Published July 25th, 2009 by Bobby Henderson

Team FSM on Kiva is at $78,150 of our $100k goal.

It turns out that the largest team on Kiva is the Atheist, Agnostics, and Skeptics group with over 4900 members and nearly $740k in loans. Holy shit.

Not unlike a spy, I infiltrated their team covertly, and left them this message in an attempt to recruit some of those Godless heathens to our team:

Dear Atheists, Agnostics, Freethinkers, etc:

It’s not too late to Believe in something!

I know you have trouble Believing in a Higher Power – we all have these doubts from time to time. You just need to have Faith.

Once not too long ago, I was like you all – Lost, with no direction or hope. Then I had a Vision and He changed my life. I am talking of course of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Let me ask you something: After a large meal of Pasta, do you feel more at peace? Scientists will confirm that after such a meal, endorphins and other “brain chemicals” are firing overtime. His Noodlyness at work!

I know many of you are academics and base your decisions on observation; before joining our Church, you’ll need a flawless argument. Consider this: the Flying Spaghetti Monster alters our perception of reality such that we can’t see or measure His influence. Thus, lack of observable evidence of His existence is, itself, evidence of His existence. After all, what else but an all powerful God could manage such a feat as this.

You’re all welcome to join our team on Kiva. We are over 500 strong and have raised nearly $80k of our $100k goal. Our kiva team link: www.kiva.org/team/fsm

Every Friday is a religious holiday for Pastafarians, you’ll be entitled to take these off from work.

For more about our religion feel free to view our website: www.venganza.org

Thank you for your time and may the FSM Touch each and every one of you with His Noodly Appendage.

RAmen,

Bobby Henderson

Help team FSM raise $100k on kiva

Published July 21st, 2009 by Bobby Henderson

Team FSM on kiva.org is now the top religious congregation. We’ve got almost 500 members on our team and we’ve lent out over $70k.

We’re trying to raise $100k by the end of the summer. Would you take a minute and check out the site and consider joining our team?

Kiva is a non-profit micro-lending institution primarily for the developing world. Typical loan requests are like, $1000 for some cows in Vietnam, or $1500 to open a shop in Cambodia. You choose which of the loans appeal to you, and donate a small amount, usually $25. When the loan is fully funded, 100% of the funds go to the borrower. They pay it back over time without interest. The money comes back to your account and you can take it or loan it out again (I suspect most of us re-loan).

Team FSM has so far provided more than 2100 micro-loans.

Our team page is here. Please take a look and see what you think.

Some example loans:

Please help us hit $100k.
