look what i found

originaldrawing.jpg

I found *the* original drawing. It was in a box in my car, where I keep all my most important things. The Smithsonian people should put this up somewhere, am I right? How do we make that happen, internet?

*Update* They don’t want it. Here’s what they said:

The Smithsonian Institution is always happy to consider unrestricted donations of art for its collections. However, the Institution accepts only those works of art that truly fill a gap in or complement the collections and then only after careful consideration by museum curators, administrators and directors. The Institution adds to its collections only a tiny percentage of what is offered and typically does not accept unsolicited artwork.

We suggest that you try to find someplace other than the Smithsonian to showcase your drawing and/or promote the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster message.

Compare this to the one on the “home page,” too similar to not be the original.

I agree with the framing and smithsonian, but also that you should make copies and sell them, because, in all honesty, I might not have bought the tacos (yet) but I’d buy a framed print of this for my living room in a heartbeat. And I am so surprised it stayed in such good shape in the car!

That is a beautifull picture. I love the attention to detail.

It certain it was an inspired work.

You should have a pasta party and put the framed picture in a seat at the head of the table as an honored guest.

Yep, nice piece. I read it (get daily emails of NYT content), I smiled, I immediately came here to post the link, but Alice at #37 already had it up. Thought Bobby may have given it a thread :(

    @ – bfd, #3,
Please enter your complaint as a letter to the website, and I will be glad to hold a theological, historical, linguistic discussion with you on the appropriate hate mail thread. This thread is for the Pastafarian faithful to express their awe and reverence for FSM artifacts and sightings.

Your self reference, naming yourself by initials only, leads me to believe that you are really nothing but a Big F… Deal, and that yours was a typical Hit-and-Run, and we shall never hear from you again.

as a librarian, archivist and book/paper dealer I would like to suggest that you at least digitally scan it in a high quality image and upload it to the Internet Archive http://www.archive.org/index.php. I do work for a theological library (this is no joke) but I don’t think I could convince them to acquire it for our Rare Book collection

Imagine what you could get for it on ebay… What did Colbert get for the cast from his broken wrist, even after he let a bunch of people vandalize it?

If this were sold in a public auction, it would probably go for quite a lot, which could fund the divine cause, and would raise a lot of awareness…

    I have two suggestions:

    1. Have you tried the Creation Museum? It’s clearly the most realistic rendering of our creator. They should be thrilled to know that it’s available to finally answer their questions about life.

    2. The Vatican may be interested. They own all the greatest works of art, across many religions. Granted, they would most likely want it in order to be able to store it away for all time, but then again it could be in the archives with some pretty amazing art and texts from ancient religions.

OK if these don’t work for you, there are lots of pirate museums, just google “pirate museum.” Search their treasures and if they have a worthy bit of FSM goodness in their collections, this could be a great addition!

Well I dont know about you guys but I, and I suggest everyone to email the Smithsonian. Something along the lines of:

Dear Smithsonian, I am a tourist travelling around your fine country and have an interest in your museum. I have heard that you recently recieved the ORIGIONAL piece of art depicting Pastafarian creation from the prophet Bobby Henderson. Is this piece on display, and if not when will it be on display so that I may time my visit to see it.

    Thank you

This celestial work has obviously been touched by his noodly appendage, therefore, it shows no signs of decay whatsoever. As you all know, he can alter anything in the universe at will.รง

Purchase the Gospel

An elaborate spoof on Intelligent Design, The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is neither too elaborate nor too spoofy to succeed in nailing the fallacies of ID. It's even wackier than Jonathan Swift's suggestion that the Irish eat their children as a way to keep them from being a burden, and it may offend just as many people, but Henderson, described elsewhere as a 25-year-old "out-of-work physics major," puts satire to the same serious use that Swift did. Oh, yes, it is very funny. -- Scientific American
