I must object to this phrasing because it can be taken to imply that a scientific theory can be proven *correct*. I know you didn’t say “correct,” perhaps deliberately, but it could be read that way.
The best we can ever say about a scientific theory is “so far, so good.” In the case of evolution, that’s pretty far, which makes it a good theory we can have a fair amount of confidence in, but it hasn’t and never will be proven correct. It can only be invalidated and, thus, proven wrong.
I’m also uncomfortable with saying that theories are validated by experiments. That’s a bit strong for my tastes. I’d prefer to say that experimental results may agree with a theory’s predictions, giving us added confidence in the accuracy of its other, as-yet untested predictions.
Finally, a scientific theory need not, as you implied, be tested even once, let alone repeatedly. It need only be falsifiable. A *worthwhile* scientific theory will often be tested repeatedly, though, and we won’t usually have much confidence in one that hasn’t been tested yet.
Mind you, I’m sympathetic to the Pastafarian cause and hope I haven’t come across as nit-picking, nor do I mean to single you out. I just stumbled across this site, found your post, and thought it might be helpful to make a few points I think should be borne in mind when making the case for Him. Cheers, and thanks for this site.

I don’t hate christians, I don’t think about them enough to hate them. Luckily I lived in a secular country. I feel sorry that in 2009 there are still people who follow “teachings” from a time when people washed their clothes on a rock in the river. I can understand ancient peoples believing in gods, but when we know that Heaven isn’t up, and Hell isn’t down, that women have periods for procreation not as a curse, that you can’t flood the entire world, that the Earth is roughly 4 billion years old, that the continents have been joined to each other at various times, fossils abound from long before the arrival of man, pork and shellfish don’t harbour the devil, we have different races and languages because of the isolation of tribes and the genetic pools that groups carried not because we tried to build a tower to heaven, I can’t see why some people choose to ignore the blatantly obvious and follow tribal lore from the ancients. Imagine drawing any of your information from that time, medicine, hygeine, science. Superstition ruled their lives.
I wonder if the powers that be were faced with having to teach that the world might be flat long after it was proposed that it was a globe?

It never ceases to amaze me, this idea of “athiestic evolution.” Evolution, of course, being a scientific enterprise, has no place for supernatural explanations, much the same way as astronomy and plate tectonics don’t leave room for “God’s will.” Theistic evolution is a possibility, but there is no good test for “where is God’s hand in evolution?” So we move to philosophy & theology.
This is where FSM shines. We know that at certain critical junctions, He reached out His noodly appendage and shaped the course of both evolution and history.

As I read through these posts, it becomes more and more clear to me that it’s not “Christians” or “Pastafarians” that are the ignorant ones. There’s dumb-asses on both sides of this argument (if it can even be called an argument). I understand the humor and satire of this “noodly appendage”, and yeah, it’s a little offensive, but I don’t think followers are “deceived by the devil” … they just don’t get it yet.
My point of view is this: if I’m wrong (being a Christian) then I’m living a productive, helpful life… and when I die I get put in the ground, that’ll be the end. But if I’m correct in respecting and honoring my creator, then when this life is over, it won’t be the end.

I think people whether they be; Evolutionists, Christians, Sociologist, “gurus,” or any other opinionated body, put too much faith in their own, individual perceptions of what they perceive to be “true” in life.
Perhaps we humans, as individuals or clusters may have; discovered relics, had spiritual experiences, formed opinions of how society should be run, or discovered ways of overcoming and managing obstacles that life might throw at us? Does this mean that our individual perceptions, developed from our analysis of what we believe to have discovered, experienced or supposed are correct and should they be preached as truth to the masses? No!
For all we talk of being open-minded; is the argument of the Atheist (based upon our perception of the tangible reality in which we live) against the Christian’s “word” (based on faith in an intangible super being) not as absolute as the other.
I just wish everyone could chill out and listen more to what each other has to say and with that, I would like to ask F.S.M. a question of my own…
Suppose there is still much for us to learn as individuals upon this planet, how are we to progress: As a united mind; each perceiving and functioning in accordance with the other?

This is what I think about this FSM religion = In the bible (Gods very own word) in Hosea chapter 5 verse 4 it says, They will not frame their doings unto their God: for the spirit of whoredoms is in the mids of them, and they have not known the Lord. Guys we were all created by God, everything is, the world, all the planets, EVERYTING! And He created us (human beings) and gave us a free will. He didnt creat us to hate us or for us to fear Him, He created us to love us and to have a relationship with us. But because of our free will, we got pridefull and turnd away from Him ourselfs, and thats how sin started (disobedience) and sin separates us from God. And so I think that how it says in Hosea that because of peoples free will and there pride they did not frame their doings unto their God, and have not known the Lord, they basicly started there own religions because of there pride. Guys because God hates sin, His wrath is on those who sins against Him. After life there is only heaven or hell, where we will spend our eternaty! And Gods punishment for sin is hell! But we all sinned, no one is perfect, so we all basicly turnned away from God, and we all basicly deserive hell! But because God still loves us so much (John 3:16) that He gave up His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ) that whosoever believes in Him should not perish (in hell) but have everlasting life (in heaven) God gave up His so that He would come down to earth and take up all our sins on Himself and die for them! and was resurrected after three day to defeat death and sin! And to restore in us that relationship with God, to love Him and be loved by Him, and not just live for our selfs and our pridefull ways. Guys its the greatest joy to know God and have a relationship with Him! Please think about it! God loves everyone and wants everyone to know Him and be saved and have a relationship with them! Romans 10 verse 9 says, If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Guys you can be saved from you sin and from hell! and have a relationship with God. Or do you raelly think you can have a relationship with a noodle monster? THINK ABOUT IT!

Humans are supposed to embody the apex of God’s design skills, but insects and birds can see better and a wider spectrum of colors than humans! An octopus has better vision than you-it’s a mollusk, for fuck’s sake! It’s cousins are slugs and snails! Why can’t we be as good as them? Because our ancestors sinned? That’s just stupid! You sit there and say that we created other religions, because of “pride”? No. It was because people got sick of their old religion lying about everything and tried coming up with something better, as humans tend to do. You can’t see that, however; the Bible is stuck in your mind like some impacted turd! You can’t even see the errant stupidity of it’s logic! Pregnant virgins, global floods, holy zombies, the whole of humanity derived from two humans with no signs of genetic inbreeding except within religions! Oh, fuck it!
